OK, it's not been officially confirmed, but it's reckoned that the PS3 will launch at US$399.
Can't help but think MS will win this battle of consoles... launching ahead of the PS3 and $100 cheaper?

forgetting the revolution?
nintendo still hasnt released their controller design, its gonna be something big i think
much cheaper, ok it does have significantly less power than the other consoles but you can be sure that it will have great gameplay just like the gamecube
nintendo is still in this race, so dont forget them

Read the Slashdot story?
Serious money involved.

I could get a revolution as well though, if it's cheap! :-)
$399 and no hard drive. That's a bit steep.
A 20gb would be enough storage to start with and it would not cost them much ($20-$30).
"it would never be enough" Jezz, make them upgradable dumb ass

Although only the PS3 and XBOX360 are battling it out powerwise, I still think that the Nintendo is hanging it's sleeves and taking a lighter road, eventhough we haven't 'properly' seen it yet.
Didn't both the PS1 and PS2 release in the UK at around £300 with a game or two, etc? Perhaps Sony may want to keep this decision, but then again the major influence from M$ price may break it.
they said it was only gonna be a few times more powerful than the gamecubeOriginally Posted by Mike Fishcake
and there have been stories emerging from some developers that the figures quoted for ps3/xbox360 are utter bollocks
this happens every time. try comparing what sony promise then deliver in terms of real performance, then do the same for nintendo
nintendo, on the whole, are actually honest when saying what their machines will do (and sometimes wrong, it took 2 months for thew gameube's theoretical peak polygon performance to be doubled by developers, but the ps2 has never come within 10% of what sony promised)
Playstation has always been expensive on release because it's traditionally been the first in the 'generation' to be in the marketplace. id say to get the full spec system would certainly be £300.
I was prefering PS3 until yesterday, i heard that the controllers on xbox 2 will work with longhorn, and then i saw these screenshots of Project gothem racing:

By the way Sony have not yet released their controller design either, what you saw at E3 is still concept and Sony have stated its not definite yet.
Which is good as i don't really like the look of the concept one, wish they'd just stick with the DualShock
It's all about games and cost. If the console doesn't have a good number of good games, or costs too much, it will fail regardless of how powerful the hardware is or when it is released.
Well, i don't want to jump to conclusions , it could be comfortable, but it certainly looks odd.Originally Posted by directhex

I actualy liked the Jaguar controler.
