i have had this game a while and i'm on the latest update and the latest graphics diver, the game just seems to crash to desktop most days when i play it, sometimes you can get a few hours sometimes a few mins, nothing has changed on my system, just wondering if anyone else had heard or suffered with this problem

The blasted game is so hideously buggy theres bound to be many people having the same problem as you..
Good hunting...although I'm confident when you fix that problem, there'll likely be another problem to solve, which can be solved in a similar method to the one I pointed out above, that is how I solved my problems...

RUN THE GAME AS ADMINISTRATOR IN WINDOWS 95 (properties \compatibility) no more crash
