    Xiii

anyone have this and got it to work?!!
I got this in that game pack from misco ages ago; it had farcry, prince of persia, splinter cell, lego racers, starsky and hutch and XIII.
until recently I had been playing farcry and starsky and hutch. didn't much like splinter cell, lego is for kids. oh, PoP is cool and very slick gaming. reasonably challenging too in places with some very good puzzles. I also thought the fact you weren't aimlessly wandering around rather good too.
ANYway...I have just been trying toget this Xiii game to work and it doesnt. its pants! I've dL'd the most recent patch assuming that would work but I'm continually faced with 'insert CD' when I try to start up the game.
    wtf? its in the drive!!
anyone know how to over come the problems this apparently twitchey game suffers?

Might be because its on a dvd and the program expects a cd? Also could be copy protection. I never managed to get splinter cell from that pack to work online. The support people said that not only it doesn't like any cd emulating software - it also was not happy about Nero. At which point i decided it wasn't worth the bother. They don't want my money? They won't get it then. Not going to buy the newer splinter cell games if they are going to refuse to work. They aren't my thing anyway.

Back to XIII - try their support forums, someone would have had this problem and posted there.

I've got a copy but cant play it. Anyone suffering from gaming motion sickness should steer clear of this one, i have never felt sooo sick after playing a game for 10 mins!

    oh that bad eh?
yes i think it may have something to do with the game being put onto a dvd from several CDs. when it looks for a particular cd it can't find it. its not like my copy is illegal or anything (is it? if so misco/simply have sold a load of dodgy games...that can't be good!).
i did a google search and it seems this game is plagued with bugs and lockups and crashes and all the rest of it. what a nightmare!

i didn't have a problem with it on DVD - well - wouldn't work if disk wasn't in the installed drive (always annoying)

check the DVD for any patches (cracks)

it's not as odd as it sounds, i've had games on Sold Out Software which fail copy protection, and need use of officially supplied cracks in order to work

yeah, updated it with patches and all that. only other thing I can think of would, technically speaking, be illegal. and since we can't talk about that sort of thing here I'll shut up.

I had this ages ago... it was unusual, and looked quite good, but I didn't find it playable.
