    Logitech MX1000 Mouse + CS

How do people have their buttons assigned?

I used to have an intellimouse explorer and had the two side buttons assigned to "use" and radio.

But now, the standard "forward" and "back" buttons on the MX1000 don't seem to do the same thing?

So, how have you all got them mapped?

I use the set point thing and just assign the letters to the buttons and then make the config in the game for the letter.

Plugged into usb and without any software/drivers for the MX1000 they are just MOUSE4 and MOUSE5 and can be assigned by clicking them in the menu like any other button/key. Well they worked for me that way.....

LOOK LOOK THIS IS THE WAY TO DO IT

Go to the logitech setpoint, and map the back/forward buttons to Other>Generic button. Then it still performs back/forward in IE, Firefox and such, AND is mappable by games. Also do this for the middle button when you press it down, if you want.

I got one and went back to a wired mouse because as good as it was in windows it still seemed to go to 'sleep' when playing games if you stopped moving for too long, it was only for a fraction of a second but it was enough to be annoying. I've never heard anyone else mention this so I always found it a bit odd.

I don't know how to comment really - I use a gaming mat and its FAR better than my optical wired mouse, and my friends one is the same, except without the mousepad. But I used a much older MX1000 that did that 'sleep thing' once, which put me off it at first. But I tried my friends new one around 6 months later, and the sleep lag was non-existent. Perhaps Logitech have silently fixed it in a new revision, or its a bit of luck.

I am honestly saying I have no lag during pickup, or when the mouse 'sleeps'. Then again when it sleeps, I see the tiny tiny laser inside flickering dully, ready for some action.

I always used the USB port - and I thought it always moved faster than PS2. Try this - Go to Control Panel > Mouse > Hardware > Properties... and look for some kind of rate thing... I think it's by default on 100 - try 200. I usually done this and I noticed a difference, but with different mice it may be different.

*That only works if you have it on the PS2 port. I think USB uses the fastest rate. Lol I have no idea

I brought one the other day (mx1000) which is given me pure grief! I tried it with the newest setpoint SW (2.44 i think?) but the left click will not open/close certain windows/progs and also the 'switch application button' (middle left side) changes my kerio settings which is really scary!
I have since lost the setpoint SW and i'm using the default XP drivers which gives me the use of fwd/bck buttons when using firefox (but not the case in ie!) But i would still like the use of all buttons! (any ideas) I have since read so much trouble with the Logi SW/Drivers but Logi will not admit setpoints at fault
I am also using my old MX700's (duo desktop) reciever with the mx1000 as i did'nt want to have 2 recievers on my desk. It works great! The mouse fits & charges with no probs at all!

I think there's a new wireless laser mouse coming from Logitech soon. hopefully it won't have the sleep problem. I wouldn't mind one because apart from that, the MX1000 is a really good mouse.

You obviously didn't read my post above, which shows how to get your buttons working with setpoint
