Half-Life 2 Pre-Gold..Looks like things just got worse =/

I was in the IRC channel and room when people where buzzing with the new news. I just wanted to let you guys know, for you all will know soon enough, especially when it will be out tomorrow. I just hope Valve does something and something real soon.

And for you guys that will come in here flaming, it is not fake and I did not make this up. In a little while go into any IRC channel (I won't tell you which) and you'll hear the buzz too. Remember, Im just trying to tell you guys what's up. Judge me tomorrow when it comes out if you want. I am not trying to support Warez but its not like I can do anything about it to stop him.

hey it's not warez, it's a beta leak. i'll gladly pig it and will probably buy the game too. valve delayed it anyway for all it's prepaid bookers!

a mate of mine claims he will have the beta tommorow, got this in a emal from him : "Do you remember the source code that was stolen. Well they have added got the resources from the e3 version. Put them together and half life 2."

also : "No it's the full game with some textures missing and some bugs but it's half-life 2"

Such a shame all this has happened :(

It acctually looks like it wasnt now - several people are saying they have it. I dont know how reliable they are, but im sure we'll find out tomrrow when it will hit the news sites if its true.

Well i a mate of mine from my cs clan, has claimed he has got the copy and that its brilliant etc. I know he doesn't lie so i think that it has been realeased.

I myself will wait until the full copy comes out, if it ever does come out as i would like to support the creators not go against them as it looks like a brilliant game.

Also if he did have a pre gold rel, I,m sure he would have leaked that instead of the Beta, which is more like an alpha. I think what is already out, is it.

It is a shame this happened,

But it the Beta is not the full game,
sure it has the maps, there is no narrative,
most of the maps are missing textures/buildings etc,
and last for 5 mins.
I would say the most you,d get from the 4 gig install
required is 60 mins of actual gameplay, and i use gameplay
in the loosest term possible, really it will give you an
idea on how hl2 will run on your sys,
And yes you will see graphics that you havnt
quite seen before.

Such a Shame that this has happened thou,
I suggest you don,t d/l and save yourslef
till it,s actually released, It will be worth the w8,
thats for sure:) otherwise after playing those few
playable levels in the beta, other games mostly
pale by comprasion, it,s too much of a spoiler.

On a side note, I picked up a 9500np which worked
perfectly with the 9700 softmod, came
home installed it, was running some tests, then i
heard hl2 beta was leaked...lol...i needed to know
how it would run, and it runs on a 2200xp with 512 meg
pc2100, 95@ 9700 pro at 1028 with 4x af and 4 aa
like a dream, it really does.
Anyone who,s got a 9700 upwards is going to
be well happy with how it runs dx9.0.

How could you do this to yourself? I know you have been waiting ages for HL2 like millions of others, now surly by playing a half arsed version it will take something away from the full version when you finally get it?

That is the reason why i am actually waiting for it, the game wont be new to you because you would have already played it. Don't think this will be coming out this year now, so don't know how long ill be waiting for.

if i could find out who it was who hacked half life 2 i would PERSONALLY go and smash their face in... no i'm not joking, it's ******* idiots like them who ruin it for the rest of us... not only in delaying the release of it, but making the source code available to writers of aimbots and other hacks.. meaning the game may be screwed as far as multiplayer is concerned before it's even released.

Hopefully Valve will use this extra time to re-encrypt the source code and make it un-hackable some how.

The Game was always going to get leaked, Sooner or later.
The powers that be arent as pissed off about
this beta as much as the Source Code itslef.

The Source code being leaked is what will
cause a delay more then anything else,
If there is a further delay of course.

One thing too note thou,
This beta build is supposed to be 26/09/03
So if this build is the stage they were at
2 weeks ago, these no way it would
be ready for 30/9 and they must have known this for
ages. Yet they still rigidly stuck to that rel date.

Soz I can,t get worked up about the source code
being leaked, Even thou I don,t agree with the source code
being leaked, coz that,s valve,s blood and guts for the
past 5 yrs.
These just too much happening in the so called "real world"
for me too get wound up by a hacker.
Of course if as a direct result of the source code
being leaked there is a delay, then these going
to be plenty of hl fanatics pissed off.

The truth is only valve know where they are
with the game....and they don,t appear to be saying anything
at the mo. Not that you would neccessarily believe them ethier.

heres my 2p, ive also played it, its not a pre-gold its an amatuer compile of the source code which was stolen, the hacker claims it demonstrates all that valve have, it isnt much and LOTS of textures are missing. Theres two sides to the story, either u believe valve in saying they delay because the code was stolen OR u believe the hacker and that valve are using it as an excuse because the game isnt ready.

THERE IS A LEAK, stop doubting it.

A few places are taking pre orders for the rad cards boxed with HL 2. I believe they are being released Dec 5th. This still remains to be seen wether it happens or not though.

I had the displeasure of browsing the leaked demo round a mates house, he couldnt run it so I took a look at some of the audio files (im an audio nut) to see if there was anything good in there. Needless to say that a lot of the speech samples were very low quality and badly recorded, implying that it was the guys in valve to temporaty files, and they havent been done yet.... either that or they havent been stolen from valve...

why anyone would spend ages DL'ing a 1.5gb demo leak is beyond me though... it takes the anticipation out of waiting for the release.... nothing will beat the relief of unwrapping a copy of the game and running it for the first time when its released.... its gonna be beautiful man
