Not many good games for PSP yet?

I've been looking at buying a psp for some time yet, but with Sony's import law suits and my looking round at the game reviews of the launch titles, I have to admit i'm still not convinced.

There seems to be a small number of worthwhile titles.
    Virtual Tennis
    Ridge Racers
    Wipeout Pure
    Luminese

But from all the other reviews i've read it appears there is still some decent games missing....

    Anyone got any thoughts..

And theres obviously gta when they get round to releasing it, it doesnt need too many games though i dont think, ive been entertained by ridge racer on its own for a month.

the psp seems like a big waste of money to me. first of all, anyone can pretty much get by without playing a game. then you can also play movies, but seriously, who wants to watch an entire movie on a 3 inch screen? it just seems like a dumb investment. if i were you, i would wait a couple of months and put down the same money on an xbox 360

First off, the screen is actually pretty big, 4.4" not 3.
Second, if you can get by without playing games then why buy a 360?
Third, movie playback is actually pretty good, its not great, but its better than the seatback effort you get on planes, and of course you can use it on the train, bus whatever.
Fourth 360 will not cost 150 quid at release, or at any point in the next year or so.
    Fifth It was a gift
Sixth, theyre bloody sweet, and have geek factor 11/10 (at least until release day, then it might drop to about 9)
Seventh If you think its a waste of money then you arent the target audience

Ideally id think of another 3 reasons for a round 10, but i cant, but i might edit later.

Exactly, if it was a 'waste of money' then Sony would have the initiative to not have developed it. In your circumstance you may find it pretty useless - but others are bound to have a different situation as you.

Also the Xbox 360 is being reported as £299 on release, not quite the price of the PSP there (although I'm going to be buying an Xbox 360, not a PSP)

If watching movies on a umd rather than the memory stick then the quality is actually top notch.

Anyways to get back on topic Hot Shots Golf is very good & isn't Gran Turismo being released soon as well.

Ape escape Aps on the loose is fun, probably the game I play most. Wipe out and Ridge racer as great. Metal gear solid is a bit pants, spiderman is good, but not as good as on the PS2, dynasty warrors is fun. My wife like Luminese and Mercury.

The emulators are cool too, I play sonic quite alot now :-)

I like the psp for long plane jorneys and for looking at my digital pics (camera users a Memory stick Duo) with having to cart the laptop round.

The ones that look good to me are, Ape Escape, GTA Liberty City Stories, Lumines. and Medievil Ressurection. I love the old PSX Medievil games, pure quality.

Most of the time people complain about the lack of good original titles for the psp. A fair few of the games do seem to be ports of psx games with bonus things added to make them feel new, but it is still early days.

Pro Evolution 5 is coming out soon-ish too.

And don't forget that you can surf the web over wifi with a PSP as well. The screen size, resolution and quality is excellent - far better than any PDA I've seen.

If you want a good comprehensive guide to games on the PSP then I suggest having a look over at GameTab.
