LEIPZIG, Germany (Reuters) - Nintendo Co. Ltd (7974.OS) will launch its Game Boy Micro, a portable mobile phone-sized games console, in Europe on November 4 for a recommended price of 99 euros, it said on Wednesday.
Nintendo has high hopes for a new game, Nintendogs, in which owners can talk to and stroke virtual canine pets and enjoy their reaction as the dogs wag their tail or roll over onto their back.
Nintendo said on Wednesday Nintendogs would go on sale in Europe on October 7 in three varieties -- golden labrador, chihuahua and miniature dachshund. It will be available in the United States from next week.
Unlike in the more educational Tamagochi games, these puppies never grow up.
"The puppy factor in Nintendogs is irresistible," said Merrick, adding that the game had sold thousands of copies since its Japanese launch in March, boosting console sales there.
