is the software not just setpoint? then it detects what you have and you can config it from there.
as for drivers i dont know
Well as i run a mx518 here at home and a mx1000 at work, i can confirm they are using the same driver setjust with the 518 you get the setting of increasing or decreasing the dpi speed of the mouse on the fly

I dont know if i am losing any performance with the Generic drivers. I do know some buttons will not work but what about dpi, quickness etc?Oh by the way i am also using the base/reciever from my old mx700 duo!( mouse & keyboard) I did this as i did not want 2 base's on my desk. It seems ok now but will it reduce the mx1000 sealed batteries lifetime or performance etc?

Setpoint is crap imo. I don't know about other mice but I much rather have the old drivers. With the MX1000 I can't use the thumb buttons for teamspeak when playing only FPS. It was quite a disappointment since it's meant to be a gaming mouse.
The only problem I have with the Logitech software is that using my KVM switch makes it forget what's connected, so the scroll wheel stops working, etc.
Apart from that I think their software is OK now. I've got the keyboard from an old Cordless Desktop Optical set working with a MX518 and a MX1000. I can also plug in my diNovo keyboard & mouse when I want to, but I had to install the different versions of the software in the right order to support everything at once (diNovo version first to get Bluetooth support, then the newest version on top of that.)

Never had any problem with setpoint on my mx1000 all buttons can be configured for all my games.
Wannabegeek - I suggest you use the mx1000 base unit and reinstall the setpoint software. Using a different base is like putting petrol into a diesel car then complaining that the tyres are flat.
Heh, or like jumping in the water then complaining your ears are waxy... Err... No it isn't is it.Originally Posted by iranu

...I did try the original base first but that caused erratic cursor performance remeded by the mx700's base! So can the other base/charger cause any other probs ie Batt life etc?Using a different base is like putting petrol into a diesel car then complaining that the tyres are flat.
