    Steam

    Hey all,

    I'm wantin to play CS but my STEAM wont update??

    It's stuck on ~29%....

    I've tried deleting the client.blob file...

    Any suggestions?

    tried uninstalling then reinstalling?

    seeing this thread prompted me to check my steam thingy, seems to be at 32%, no idea what its updating tho... really is a good idea just poorly executed *sigh*.

    kill the process, start it agian. rinse & repeat until it gets the message & fully updates

    Right, it managed to update....

    But I STILL cant play CS!

    It says I need to download a 350mb file to play CS!

    It's on the flippin .exe I downloaded to install the damn STEAM!

    odd. check your steamapps folder for the counterstrike cache file. if it's there you should be fine clicking ok

    how big was ur d/l, the 700mb one is the full steam + games.

    357 I think.

    It's the DoD one, but it's all I installed last time and Counter-Strike was on it??

    I havent installed anything else other than this STEAM and the updates it downloads.

    Wheres this cache folder?

    Well I think I've solved it!

    It's now decided to download a file thats gonna take about 30mins to download on a 256k cable.

    O well hehe,

    ok well ive got the cs steam and when i try 2 either login or create a new account it just kinda freezes up (or does nuthin) then i just have 2 close it.
    ive reinstalled steam about 10 times. and half-life about 3 or 4 times.

    any ideas. ty.

    This has happened to me on a few occasions it would stop at 29%, I just got fed up and canceled it. Then re-booted, tried to update again it hung at 32% I left it for about 5 mins then it updated successfully.

    Yup - exact same problem with me ...

    Steam isn't ready for Final release and IMO it should never have been released!

    well, come back from the pub and steam has finished faffing about such a wonderful program... i dont see why they couldn't have released 1.6 as a binary download patch thing, and then introduced steam a couple of months later once it had been polished (ie worked?!)...

    ah well
