    PSP smashes UK sales record

    http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/09..._sales_record/

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) sold 185,000 PlayStation Portable handheld consoles in the UK this past weekend, smashing the previous three-day record, set by Nintendo's DS in March.

Nintendo sold 87,000 DS handhelds in the first three days' of the device's availability.
Maybe Sony will start treating Europe properly in the future...

I think they're likely to only treat Europe even worse. If you can delay a product for 9 months and still outsell it's already established rival by more than 2:1 then what's the point of trying to satisfy the market more?

    Sad but true.

    Word.

Anyway, the uk is the 3rd biggest console market in the world and its absolutely dwarfed by the japanese and us market. We don't stand a chance. I blame the french and their funny format tv's.

Yes, someone must be to blame for the rubbish PAL 50hz conversions we get

I am seriously tempted to get my next console from the states just to avoid the shoddy lazy sub standard crap churned out to europe.

Nearly every game for the Dreamcast played in glorious full 60hz speed and the markets for that were far bigger in the US and Japan aswel.

SCEE should get there act together with pricing and release dates but when they get the success mentioned above then why will they bother .

If i get a psp it'l be from the states

But to wait nearly a year after japanese launch just to get a web browser already built in? Thats a steep price to pay on already huge financial price. Didn't the US/JAP firmware update with the browser come out before the UK release too?

not as far as i know, the firmware update 2.0 came out along with the uk launch, if not a couple of weeks before the uk lauch. so basicly nearly a year since it first came out in jap, it diddnt have web browsing. name me a handheld device that has wifi internet ready that is cheaper than 180...

I think that Sony can do whatever they want, because judging by the sales even after the delay, there is definitely a demand. I think that they feel they have some sort of monopoly just because they are sony.
