    Grrrrrrr Battlefield 2

I downloaded the demo for BF2, and have a major problem with it

Everytime i load it up it crashes straight back to desktop, I click it again and this keeps happening. Everytime i click my mouse or try to do anything it crashes to desktop, and i have to click the program to make it regain focus.

    I have tried 3 sets of nvidia drivers, 77.72, 77.30 and 78.01. I have an XFX 6600gt.

BF2 support says its a gfx prob in their FAQ but none of the drivers fix it. I assume if i buy the real game i will have this problem aswell.

    anybody got any ideas?

Make sure you are allowing it to run at 800x600 at 60Hz when it first starts. If it cannot get that resolution/refresh rate then it will CTD like you have seen. Make sure that you haven't used any refresh rate override programs and that the drivers are set to leave refresh rate to "application controlled"

    HTH?

blueball, i think i love you

turns out it was the refresh rate. although setting it at 800x600 60hz didnt work, i forced normal windows display to 70hz and bf2 to 70hz and w00t no crashes!

pirate thanks for your response, it wasnt useless as it would have led me to more help if this hadnt have worked.

anyway time to go pwn i suppose.

    thanks again guys
