Exclamation HALF LIFE 2 for XBOX...

    http://gaming.hexus.net/content/revi...lld19JRD0xNTc2
doesn't look too bad... FPS with controller... i have no problems with it but others may do.
whats your opinions on FPS with controllers and HL2 on XBOX?

Edit: I know it's incredibly cheeky of me to edit this post, but I do wish you guys would check out HEXUS.gaming every now and then... We've had this story up for a few days now... with the screenies!

And there's discussion going on in HEXUS.game-news about it too!

FPS with keyboard and mouse > controllers.

So much more control and ease.

I can't imagine I would get in to it anywhere near as much, and thats mostly down to the controls. Physics plays a big part in Half-Life 2 and thus you have to be able to use them as freely as possible - Mouse And Keyboard is the best way!

Still, hopefully it will be a good port for Xbox gamers, and the graphics still look good!

i tihnk half life and hl2 are pc games and should stay that way. i dont think they can be properly replicated onto consoles. but then again, the newer consoles are very simliar to our computers, so who knows.

as for a controller, i really dont think i would like it much!

FPS on console with controllers are just wrong. I guess you could get used to it after a while, but what's the point when you've had the game for nearly a year on a superior system ith better controls?

what pc gamers *consistantly* fail to understand is that a joypad isn't trying to be a keyboard and mouse. if a console FPS (or port) tries to pretent it is, then it'll be frustrating and unpleasant to play.

know why Goldeneye was so popular? the controls *worked*. the whole game *worked* it was designed with the very concept of a joypad from day one, and as such didn't *need* a keyboard and mouse.

nintendo's metroid games on gamecube, whilst not technically shooters, work very well first-person with a pad.

it's down to whether a game has been designed to play to the strengths of the control mechanism. a blanket suggestion that you need a 1980s pointing device and mishapen typewriter is just silly.

That's not what I'm saying - Goldeneye or not, I find controllers to be uncomfortable to use for FPS games. I like the fact that I have a multitude of keys to choose from round the WASD configuration, which you don't have in a joypad. Yes thre are plenty of keys but I positioning can be awkward. Also, I often find the left analogue stick is used for up/down looking which feels strange to me as I use the mouse in my right hand.

Even if the up/down look control is linked to the right analogue stick as in Timesplitters 2 on Xbox I still find the ergonomics to be wrong, therefore I finf FPS games on console are wrong.

The demand for a mouse/keyboard combo in a console is daft - they;re not designed for mouse/keyboard and there is no need for them.

Nintendo have got the right idea with the touchpad on the DS... that works brilliantly for the demo of Metroid: Hunter...

I wonder if it'll feature on the Revolution's controller.... hmmmm

OMFG! THE POINT IS, ITS FOR PEOPLE WHO DON'T HAVE A PC OR GAMING RIG FFS!

You can't really compare TBH. because someone who has been a console FPS gamer all their life might say it would be better than keyboard and mouse, and a pc gamer who uses keyboard and mouse all their life might say that a controller is wierd to use. you basically cannot compare them IMO. and listen to directhex...

You asked for opinions on FPS games on consoles and HL2 on Xbox so opinions were given. If I'm talking from personal experience so you can't really start moaning that I don't understand why there's a console release.

So, what I should have said is it's great for Xbox owners, but pointless for me having had the game since day of release. Make sense now?
