How do you stop source crashing after update?

I was just wondering if any of you guys had found a way to get passed the crashing of cs source since last nights update. My game crashes before i even get to the loading screen and i know of a few others who have similar problems.

It lets you enable / disable HDR ~ Or have it somewhere in the middle (Bloom only, IIRC).

This has no effect unless a map is HDR enabled, though - just prep for the lost coast.

My Steam has been fine - but I only use it for HL2 & some TC's

my cs:s is b0rked, it just runs at 10fps for a 10-15secs then goes back up to 80-100fps (normal) but just now its started doing that but also exits the game after about a min.
i think its the update, was fine before it!

No reply from valve, but ive managed to fix mine by stopping my firewall from blocking my HL2.exe again. It was fine before but the update musta changed something to do with it which my firewall to block it. Apparently lots of firewalls have been blocking it thinking it was a DDos attack.

Also reverting to directx 7 or 8 has been getting rid of some peoples problems.

wow steams broken something again *what a surprised*

Hence why steam is a bad idea, if updates wernt forced upon us like this you could choose not to install

But I didnt have any problems with this particular update (shockingly), even though i know lots of people have (steam forums are a fun read atm ;p)

Hmm, hopefully gaming network capacity will be expanded enough, and not just transfered from CS:S. Content servers seem to be doing ok so far though, and thats a big deal.

true but its not the content servers at fault, its the way steam chooses which one to use - quite often it will sit there trying to get on a server thats maxed out, totalyl ignoring the 10 other content servers with plenty of free bandwidth..
