I've pre-ordered, but it'll be released at 3pm PDT today. That'll be 11pm over here in the UK.
I got the silver package, played HL2 through and haven't touched it since lol..
but having the silver version means I get DoD free... right? (I hope).

Am looking forward to this, servers will probably be arsed tonight but will stay up and give it a try.
Dammit i should of left my PC on today to make sure it had downloaded everything... cant wait!

I'm doing my very best to stay true to my decision that I wont buy anything from valve ever again(steam on 56k made me decide this), but DoD:S is making this..kind of difficult.
If I bought the box-off-the-shelf copy of HL2... Do I get it for free?
If not, Valve can stick it up 'em... cos I aint paying a tenner for a Mod!

DoD's been a standalone game for some years now, not a mod.
Retail copies don't get it free, but can get $10 off IIRC. Starburn, like me you have HL2 Silver, so you get DoD for free.

I bought it and its pre-loaded. 11pm is a stupid time and means that Valve's servers will be pwned tonight so think I'll give it a go tomorrow.

I feel exactly the same as you BlackDwarf. It's a mod, its been standalone for years, but all they did was take a mod and stick the engine behind it. Same as what they've done here. They've taken an old free mod, made it work for their shiny new engine, and are now selling it off, when the modding community would have happily done it for free, and no doubt made a better job of it.

You might have pre loaded but it will be bound to go down tonight ..always does on a big new release, Ill have a go tomorrow - this should be ace
