Emulation is the only real reason i'd buy one for ... Playing Lord Of Midnight on the PSP would be great!

You can also downgrade your firmware to the 1.50 version that was less restricted anyway.
Probably the better option if you are into all that stuff...

Cant really do much with this though can you? Surely emulators wont be 64KB or less - and Twigman have you tried these "downgrade" patchers? They just turn your PSP into an expensive paperweight so i've heard.

I saw this exploit in action on Attack of the Show (g4tv) yesterday. All he did was load some kind of *.tif, which caused the PSP to crash and think it was a 1.0. Then you just run the 1.5 updater to upgrade to 1.5.

It works, I tried it last night, but I upgraded back to v2 again after I couldn't find much in the way of homebrew that interested me.

I prefer the extra features over a couple of of emulated games

bought the psp mainly for the reasons of emulation, and some big titles such as GTA, ridge and so on, i would only use my downloaded ISO games when i actually have the game and bought it, because it boots faster loding times are quiker and im not too sure if the battery last's longer although i doubt that :S
