Question Thief 3 (Deadly Shadows) HELP !!

Has anyone else come across this at all ?

I am trying to remap the keys on the game to what I'm used to (Typical Unreal setup of Cursor keys for movement and straffe and I set keys local to those for all other functions as I am more comfortable with that instead of using WSAD : each to their own ! )

Anyhow, whenever I left click to do the remap it sets one of the axis on my Sidewinder pad as soon as I click the LMB so I'm assuming that the LMB according to this game is getting mistaken for a pad axis ( I Followed instructions in accordance with the manual ) It doesnt work in the same way as the previous 2 games where you click on the action then click bind and then select the new keymap, its one of those where you just click and then select new binding.

I have the 1.1 patch installed ( Installed with the game as I have bought the rerelease ) but that doesnt have anything about this in what it covers and I just cant find anything on the Eidos site about it.

Has anyone else come across this and know of a solution to rectify it ? I know its been out about a year now so I'm a bit behind with this one but have managed to do the first 2 levels with a bit of discomfort and constantly having to look at the keys !!

Its ok, got it sorted, just turned my pad off and have now managed to remap the keys, guess the PC version messes up if a pad is connected and pads musn't be supported by the game.

I really like what I have seen so far of this, enjoying it as much as Thief 2 even though it does feel quite arcadey at times, dont like not being able to hold the blackjack up in the air ready to strike like on the 2nd one, will take a while to get used to !

Glad to hear you got it to work, i've found quite a few games done like having the joystick plugged in or will not work with joystick.
(Actually thief 3 acts strange when my Xbox joypad is plugged in)

I really liked Thief 3, quite a fitting end to the series.

The only bit i dont like about it is you have to traverse a lot of areas you have already been to, The best level is definetly The Shalebridge Cradle very eerie

Have you put the texture pack on? if not get it from here..

Here's a link to the difference it makes in graphics..

Also you need this program to make the game feel & look more like the other thief games.

P.S. i didnt notice about the blackjack movement, it's now quite obviously missing now you mention it.
"Mmm... I want you for my wife!"

"Of course you can. We would love for you to join us."

I keep having to do the same bit more than once as I forget to save the game due to most games having autosave function from level to level, I'm at the hub and have sold my first loot and have to sell an Opel to a specialist but I entered the area and freed the creature without saving so I'm now back at the start of the previous bit with the tavern aaaaarrrrrrggggghhhhhh !

Got the texture updates and it looks amazing I must admit, not often you get quality like this from independants. Makes everything down to armour look like the characters are wearing it instead of it being just a skin.

Anyone know of any mods or extras for this other than the ones Ravens Nest pointed me to as I'm loving what I have seen so far and cant wait to get to the Cradle as I have heard so much about that level, its supposed to be really creepy.

Yup you deffo need to modify this game I was so so so dissapointed with it, had it pre-ordered for ages, screenshots looked good, then it arrived, I installed it and whoops its deus ex 2 all over again. It just didnt work for the pc, tiny maps (ie small areas before you have to load, worse than half life) horrible feel to it (felt slow and cumbersome) shocking textures..totally xboxerised, ie designed for the xbox primarily...

I know this is a pet hate for me as I think both deus ex 2 and theif3 were ruined by a change of focus, DX2 more so as that actualyl lost a tonne of gameplay along with the interface and texture/sound quality.
