Anyone seen the 20 min ES: Oblivion video?

I saw it this morning, not quite sure if there's a post about it yet. It was from some promotional DVD found in US shops (and was the E3 demo apparently), took at least a week for someone to finally rip the video from it. It's fully legal as I am aware of btw, since it was a free disc.

Watch it, graphics and gameplay are SO impressive! Even without the graphics the sheer depth they go into is amazing. You get commentary from a guy (I think the lead developer or someone) who explains some really cool stuff.

Prepare to LOL at the end too, lol the bit where you get the woman and the dog, I was crying with laughter.

    http://www.xboxyde.com/news_2060_en.html

For all those people who go 'ohmigod its leik firts person view, therefore its poo', it clearly shows that you can change within the two as you wish.

Games to get at Xbox 360 release:
    Gears of War
    Project Gotham Racing 3
    Perfect Dark Zero
    [new addition] Elder Scrolls Oblivion

BTW: This video is 5 months old, but many people havent seen it.

    Getting it on Xbox

I'd get it on PC, I have over 120 plugins for Morrowind, some small, some massive new continents. I wouldn't trade in that plug-in ability for anything to be honest.

Anyway, downloading the vid right now. People who say it shouldn't have a FP view, well, they can go play some cartoonish RPG like Fable for all I care. I want my RPG's gritty, deep, and absorbing. For that, first person view can't be beaten.

I would get it on the PC, especially because of the mouse and keyboard I can use with it, but I would ideally like to play this under the highest visual experience, so I will end up getting it for the 360 probably

Well I quite like the first person view, but everyones different, so it's quite good they can satisfy the others with another view

Man the game is quite deep, suprised if they can fit all that on a single DVD

OMG! I couldnt wait for it before but now... I NEED IT! Love everything they have done with it, AI looks really cool, Graphics lovely, Voice, way the blood stained other soldiers swords...

And all that was on the 360, wonder what the PC version will be like? Will it look any better?

    edit: Oh and those forests!!!wow

I think that was the PC version, you can see it from the way the mouse acts on the character stats thing, where he talks about a learning and improving system, rather than your normal EXP thing.

Ah well, I'm glad I remembered to stick a condom on before that. It wasn't wasted.

Methinks the PC versoin will look better, PC stuff always looks better, since a console has a maximum resolution(they work on TV's ffs) but PC's have any resolution you want, extra AA, AF...the list goes on

This looks fantastic, so long as I can turn that compass off, I don't think I could complain about anything I saw in that preview.

You say that but when hes talking about combat he says about moving the sticks, the menus are huge (saying lower rez?), the way he moves when he looks around, plus i wouldnt be surprised if its been done on 360 so microsoft can flog it as another thing saying 'look how shiny it is!'

Intrestingly they dont use Bump maps in they're layer system, anyone know enough about graphics tech to suggest why this might be? Have they been superseeded by something, or are they just leaving them out and emulating the effect using other maps?

Yea my mate said that. Well it was running REALLY nicely and smooth so if it was the Xbox 360 I'm glad

Bump mapping has kinda been made obsolete by parallex mapping, which is a more realistic form of bump mapping that makes the texture actually look like it has 3D dimensions on a flat surface. I say kinda, because its only the next level up, bump mapping is still very much alive, and more used than its ever been

They use a combination of like 4 mapping techniques on surfaces aswel; specular maps, diffuse maps, normal maps and parallex maps... very orgasmic tbh

    WOW!
This game just looks amazing, I played Morrowind for a long time and loved every minute of it and this game just looks like its going to be even better. The only question on my mind is whether I should buy an Xbox 360 or not?

Well if its better performance than a computer with 2gb RAM, 7800GTX in SLI, FX 57 and such, then you know you have got your moneys worth for £210/280 depending on the package you bought Just have to wait and see

I don't see why anyone would complain about first person gameplay in an rpg. I'm pretty sure I played Morrowind in first person view. I don't need to be staring up my character's ass. I prefer to see everything in front of me.
