is myth back and posting then? havnt seen you on here in a while
easily worth buying day of defeat: source
its quite straight forward
map sizes are about the size of counter strike source maps
there are 5 control points which you must capture for your team (some require a team mate to help you) once all five have been captured by your team, you win
and the round starts again
if you should die (which tends to happen alot to me) you respawn in about ten seconds everytime (when reinforcements are allowed)
its a great game, buy it then get on the #hexus.dod irc channel (people are not using it enough )
Thanks! I was wondering how that works... I will buy it imediately, cant wait to see HDR
It's well worth getting, gameplay works fantastically, great graphics too.
I still havnt decided if i like it, I loved DOD sooooo much but something about this i dont get on with.
However i felt the same about CS:s when that came out so given time im sure it will grow on me.

they really should release new maps/models very quickly to keep us playing it
thats probably one of the only problems i have with day of defeat at the moment
where is Caen? where are the British?!
its these things that get to me....
yep! They definatly need more maps... i mean only 4 on release?!?! bah!

For me its ok. Nothing special, and if i had the choice again i wouldnt buy it.
i feel exactly about it as i do CS:S, i have to be really in the mood for it.
im so bad at the game, i just cant get used to the recoil and travel when u fire weapons, also the classes dont seem very clear cut, i have no idea who to pick.
any tips for noobs to the game who avoided DoD completely and played cs/ut/bf instead?
If you are used to CS I would suggest either Rifleman/Assault/Support, they are quite quick to get used to using.
but what are teh actual benefits of each? i seemed to suck at everythingOriginally Posted by Yohji

Well I completed Halo and Fable on the xbox and 75% through Burnout Revenge while my computer was down for the week and I have got a bit fedup with my Xbox. So got the comp up and running installed HL2 and BF2. I played lost coast earlier. Very nice looking. I wanted something new and fresh to sink my teeth into so I just purchased DoD:S.
Only problem its taking ages to update @ 52k/sec must be pretty big. You guys have anytips on what servers to play/where you play/ people are friendly?
I'm on one of the 2 DAUK (Dads Army UK) servers most nights
http://www.dauk.co.uk/
Theres usually a few admins around so if anybody TKs a lot they get banned. Apologies if you accidentally TK, and forgive other peoples mistakes and they are a good lot. They also run limits on snipers + mgs which works well, server 2 some times has custom maps
I play under the name {TT}Flibb[OwP]
Hopefully see you in there
Thankyou, I will see you there Flibb!Originally Posted by Flibb
DOD Source rocks. I went back and played DOD last night for a bit. I've got to say that its still an excellent game, and of course runs very smoothly on my machine.
I've found moving to DOD:S quite hard - its really a new game, with some familiar features. I would highly recommend giving it ago, especially as new updates appear on steam (love it or hate it) quite regularly.
DoD:S has a real visceral feel to it. The weapons feel and sound right, and its quite intense to play. THe visuals and audio helps alot of course. Can't wait for new maps to come out, but I do think they picked the four best from DoD to port over to source.
Mut.
