    Has anybody used Source SDK

So have any of you used the sdk to create your own maps? If so have you uploaded them anywhere?

I have only just started messing around with it but I have made a room with light sources, spawns and I have compiled it. My main problem now is making ladders and steps that fit my room.

Yeah, only for mapping though, I'm alright, I made a map of my house a while ago, spent about at least a full week doing it and it messed up and it wouldn't let me revert back >_<

Currently working on a mansion map, but havn't done anything to it for a few months now as I've been sooooo busy.

Well ladders are easy enough, will you be using the block tool and a texture, or a model?

Edit: On a side note, I used to use a bit of the old SDK (before source), the old Hammer... anywho, when I was learning a few new things for the source SDK, like the doors with hinges and stuff (so you can swing them open fast and slow etc), I messed up the settings on one of the doors (something to do with friction) and it kills you every time you touch it

Is there a good guide on this anywhere? I'd like to have a go at it, but I looked at it once and it completely confused me .

Ive messed around with Hammer which is the old version for HL1 and CS. I was quite good at mapping but the only problem i had was getting sizes of stuff right....

Well I gave wedge some links via PM, but this is what I used to make maps for the original Counter-Strike, you could learn some basic stuff from it still, but there is also a lot of new stuff in the source SDK..
    http://countermap.counter-strike.net/

When I first looked at hammer I was tottally confused and could never have a clue on earth where to start, but spending 5 minutes on that site helped dramaticlly.

np mate, glad i could be of service also, just for advice, not to put you off, but if you go into any cs mod that has somekind of zombies in it, you will be looking at a mod going to waste, no one will even download it, there are billions(exagerated) zombie mods out there, there not even spoken about, i only know of two zombie mod which is going far, thats out of 100's

anyway, hope you get better and better! just dont get to good or will get me out of bissiness j/k...

also for advice, before you make a big map, learn simple maps first, learn about nodraw textures and func_detail which will help your map be better 99999x better, more fps and faster, i mean faster compile times, like 7 hour compile time(on a standard pc) will be around an 1 hour-ish if you use it corrently, and frame rates from 30 goto 1**+

    again, have fun
