www.filerush.com is your friend. And just uninstall the demos after.

Insert Windows CD. Go into BIOS. Change boot order. Restart. Reinstall Windows.

That's what I do whenever Windows feels a bit slow. Since I started using Linux, the Windows installation hasn't been slowing down so quickly.

WTF!??!!? So what youre trying to say is, reinstall windows everytime I download about 8 demos? Because thats when it starts slowing down. And to the other poster, even if you uninstall them, won't it still be slow?

My computer certainly doesn't slow down after eight demos. I end up reinstalling every six months to a year, occasionally sooner due to hardware changes.

I don't install that many anymore, but I'm sure I've installed more than a dozen before now without having my computer slowing down.

May I ask why you intend to install so many a month? I struggle to find or two demos worth installing a month.

Because if I subscribe to PC gamer a demo disc comes with it every month and it has about 5 good demos on it to play. I uninstall them straioght after, but my bro keeps saying if I keep installing them and uninstalling it will be slow whatever I do.

Without meaning to be insulting to your brother, hes talking crap. That may have been true in the day of windows 95, but if youre using xp you should be good, so long as you uninstall properly. If youre really paranoid about it get a copy of ghost (30 quid ish) and make a back up image of a clean system with everything youd have installed anyway on that you can restore to if you do notice slow down. (note, youll need 2 partitions at least [1 for os, 1 for data and ghost image])

Use the normal uninstall method via add/remove programs or with the uninstall that may be shown via the games demo's start menu.

To be fair demos may add things to the registry that will not be removed via the uninstall but I can't see this affecting the speed of the machine.

Drivers on the other hand can and do........

The best thing to do is to install demos into a DEMOS folder, the same with your full games.

As said before, use the uninstall option in the program itself, but better still, use add/remove as this gives you a better chance of registry entries being removed too.

If and ONLY if you're confident with regedit, you can go in a check that all rreferences have been removed... many time locked/limited use demos and shareware leave a registry entry to prevent you just re-installing the demo for more free playtime, though this is not an ethical reason to go in edit your registry.
