    Xbox 360 HD malarky questions

    Right,

So my TV ain't gonna cut it is what I'm hearing.

So, the choice I have is...

    Xbox 360 + Sony 28" 100hz Widescreen TV
Xbox 360 + 17" PC TFT (With DVI and D-sub).

So whats gonna provide the better gaming experience?
Larger TV or smaller but higher res TFT?
And whats the best way to connect either up?

It's gonna be bad enough when the XBox turns up unannounced so I don't even wanna attempt ordering a HDTV!!

VGA cable for another 20 quid connects you up to your monitor, but no widescreen therefore poo
To be honest i'd just live with the 28" by composite and then sell your granny for an HD panel!
You could buy like an RGB cable for better quality on your non HD set but I'm not sure what hte difference would be, same resolution anyway

Yeah, I use an RGB scart for the current Xbox.

Can you use the same cable? or have Microsoft shafted us all and changed the connections.

I had a similar choice. I opted to use my 32" widescreen TV - iit has component connections for progressive inputs. I dhould get a decent pictuure on that, rather than use my 19" TFT which would be a pain in the proverbial. Besides, consoles are for front-room gaming, aren't they?

TBH i'm not even sure if an RGB cable is available at launch, if it is it's definitely something you have to buy separately

Only an idiot would settle for that option.

RGB scart is available at launch for £17.99

I would go with the 28" TV with the RGB scart cable CocoPops.

If you had read my post, you would see I went on to say I would live with it until you could afford the HD TV you would inevitably be buying at some point later.
Because I hold this opinion does not make me "an idiot".

I don't see the point in paying 18 quid for a cable that will be defunct when you can put the money towards an HDTV!
Also a more appropriate and working link for connectivity options for the 360 is available here:
    http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/hardware/a...tconnected.htm

Calm down mate, the bloke is only offering his opinion.

This whole HD-TV \ Xbox360 thing has crept up on me; I've only recently realised you'd need one to really get the most out of the games.

Might have to think about getting one, depends if the games make me want to play them at the highest quality once I get to play them. If the games are good enough to deserve that sort of cash splashing, I'll consider it.

Have to admit, nice big HDTV screen, some decent 5.1 speakers and a cracking next gen title sounds pretty good - but thats the sort of money I used to spend on high end gaming rigs.

My idiot statement wasn't aiming to be a personnal attack. Perhaps i should have posted slightly differently. But i still hold to the fact that anyone who buys a 360 will want to get the best picture that they can from their current TV. That option for CocoPops is NOT composite but an RGB scart connection. At no point has he mentioned buying a HD panel.

Bertie thanks for the personnal insult. Nicely missed by Stewart.

Right I be needing some real help on this exact matter also. I'm going to get sky installed in a few weeks. Im not really interested atm in the sky+ malarky but it would be nice for my tv to work with it just so when i get caught up in the moment I can upgrade.

Now I've been mentioning HD panels left, right and centre to a few friends and everyone has the same damned answer. I'd wait till you know which ones work with SKY+ etc etc. No mention of which ones will tho.

Now my question is I want it to play my Xbox 360 in HD and Sky Plus if possible.

Now I have a Dell fp2005 for the meantime to play the Xbox360 on instead of my telly. But I don't know if it will or how it will support HD or even if it can so does anyone have any klnowledge of this?

I was looking at something like this http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=228600

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=228598

Has anyone any ideas of anthing else? I'd even go for a 32inch panel if its a good price and does all the necessary things!

I really need some good info on all this someone who know their stuff.

    Thanks

Well your Dell jobbie WILL support HD wiuth a VGA cable/ You'll have to put up with a bordered image though, unless the Dell supports image scaling.

tbh is you have got a TFT it is worth running the 360 on it so you can get Hi-Def until next year when HDTV's are cheaper
