Theres been quite alot of rumours flying about lately that these new drivers are causing the 9800 cards to overheat so its recommended that you go back to the 3.7. Thought I might mention it here in gaming even though its probably elsewhere. Guru3D have done some tests and posted up their findings.

Yea there have been quite a few posts around here about the problem, although I nevre had any problems my self with the 3.8 drivers I have reinstalled the 3.7s for the time being. I did to my surprise find that the 3.7's are better drivers then the 3.8's anyway, giving better benchmark results in every test I tried.

I've gone back to the 3.7's myself after several problems, running nicely now
Yeah I seen that and thought put the 3.7 back on. My system has become stable again now. Not running a 9800 card I have the 9600 Pro.
Thought I would put this in here for people that don't visit the full board just the lifestyle / gaming type stuff.
Hmm, maybe the 3.8's are the cause of my sluggish performance, and the weird monitor behaviour then..

Well.. had been running with the 3.8s since they came out and didn't have any noticeable problems.. however I installed the Call of Duty demo and it locked up during the first minute of play.
Did a hard reset, tried it again and this time the screen went blank and made a nasty high-pitched whislting sound (unsupported resolution/refresh, I guess) then said "no signal".
Installed the 3.7s swiftly afterwards and the demo now runs like a dream.
This is on a 9700 np.
I think ATI need take down the 3.8s or re-issue a stable version.

Still running the 3.8's on my laptop (Mobility Radeon 9000 >> UXGA LCD) and my desktop (Radeon 9700 Pro >> 15" AOL CRT).
Not had any problems.......

I had probs with 3.7, 3.8, and 3.9. I have put 3.6 on and things seem better.
Main problems were flashing in jedi academy.
yep i had that vpu problem with my 9700 on 3.8 cats
had to uninstall them quickly
