    Stalker

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow of Chernobyl has been delayed until October 2006. At the earliest.

The game has been repeatedly put back as developer's fail to get the game up to the standard they want it at. The last delay was earlier on this year, when it got pushed back to the first quarter of 2006. now it won't arrive until Q4 06. Or possibly Q1 07.

Anybody else rapidly losing interest in STALKER? Anyone prepared to start ranking it on the vapourware scale, next to Duke Forever?
By the time this is released... thats if it does see the light of day, it will be looking non too impressive wherein, is the problem imo- too much focus on the graphics and not enough on the actual gameplay

That's weird, as far as I know THQ haven't made any official statement about STALKER for ages... If THQ aren't saying anything, where is this info coming from?

(I'm not disputing your post Steve, just the actual source of the info)

Last I heard and as far as I know, THQ are saying when there's something to say, they'll say it.

AFAIK they are focusing on making their life simulation system work, which is an ambitious idea. If they perfect it but people don't buy the game - then its the public who will have its focus on graphics and not the actual gameplay, not the developers.

If it can achieve what it set out to achieve in terms of environments, ambient life and AI then i will wait for it. I will be buying it anyway as its set 80 miles from my home town and it will be nice to see the familiar scenery, buildings and vehicles and to support my compatriot (ex-, since the collapse of USSR) developers.

HL2 got delayed a lot too. And yet it arrived in the end and was good. Lets hope stalker is too.

I am not writing it off and my preorder with play will stay. Although i might end up changing my address before it comes out, which was what happened with my hl2 preorder lol.

Problem is the graphics are the only thing you can judge personally before a game is released, unless there is a demo.

Ah, yeah... i didnt really think about the source too much before posting and its certainly worth taking into consideration. Its probably not a good idea to post the link here so i'l pm it.

If anyone wants it pm me to save this turning into a dodgy thread.

Hopefully this news is rubbish because it does seem a promising game and its already come so far.
