    Doom 3

Yes I know - old game now and discussed many times before. However I reinstalled last night after a whole year on the shelf in the hope that I could play it this time around. I even installed the good old 'duct tape' mod to help me along the way.

    Result?

I finished the first mission and got back to the commander again and had to switch off. This is probably the only game in my collection that has made me do this and for the life of me I cannot keep going with it as it just made me into a bag of nerves.

    Is it just me?

Seems in these hallowed halls of hexus.gaming Doom3 has polarised opinions. That is to say people either love it or hate it. Personally I loved it all the way thro. Linear, yes, few puzzles, yes, but it's Doom

I loved Doom 3 also, and it scared the pants off me at times (and F.E.A.R doesn't scare me at all). That reminds me, I still haven't completed it :@

Same thing happened to me lol, I couldn't play it continusely. Weird thing is, after I completed the game, I messed about with God mode and such.. and it doesn't seem to make you jump as much or anything, I guess it's the fact that you don't want to be harmed, even in virtual reality!

lol I done the same sort of thing, except instead of God mode, I had a mod put on that gave me invincible squadmates. And then the game became unscary, which lead to the game being un-fun.

i enjoyed doom, because im a guy and i like blowing up stuff and shooting it with large guns

doom only scared me when i started thinking about what i was doing, things like "zomg theer could be something real nasty about to jump at me"

then u realise that there always is, so just run about like a crazy man and get shooting

Yeh, but when you have just killed that Imp that has just come out of thet maintanance hatch, you dont expect another hatch to open inside that one when you pick up the armour shards

Doom 3 has its moments I must admit. I enjoyed it in all honesty. At times my other half was watching me play it and jumped a few times.

Reminded me of Aliens at times, something pops out to get you and you end up spraying bullets everywhere trying to hit the target because you have jumped ! It does also instill the fear to go on also, something jumps out and you take it down then you stand there a few mins to gain composure and hope that nothing is waiting in the shadows to rattle you're already shaken nerves. Start thinking shall I call it a night and come back tommorow or do I go on and hope I dont soil myself again !

I have to admit though, you do start getting used to the shocks on it after a few hours play. Once you have seen all the varying type demons it stops scaring you. Did for me anyhow, only bit that creeped me out was later on in the game where you have the museum of demons in the glass tubes. I kept expecting something to smash its way out of the tube so was creeping around slowly watching and listening for the smash of glass so it got me on edge but nothing actually happened !
