    Civ 4.

Anyone got it then? Good, bad, average? Better than Civ III?

    Thinking of getting it.

    Very cool.

Interface is polished, similar to the Railroad Tycoon 3 engine with the ability to zoom out to a global view and in to a level where your units fill the screen.

Lots more context-sensitive help, extensions to the game with concepts such as "great person" and religion as well as style of government.
Less hassle with cities in civil disorder, less focus on out & out combat.

Less buggy "end of turn" handling (if you get "press enter to continue" you can call up units with movement points left indefinitely).

Animations when meeting other leaders are nice, and some subtle atmospheric animations are cool.
1600x1200 4xAA scrolls around smoothly and looks stunning.

Superior to Civ III in every respect and worth every penny IMO.

I think it's very good from what I've played, and I'm enjoying it alot more than I ever did with Civ 3. I think they've toned down the aggressivness of the AI in the easier difficulty levels though? I seem to be able to go right the way through to the 1800's before they started making threats and demanding technologys, and even when I refused to give them they didn't always declare war on me like they always seemed to in Civ 3.

n'ya, its good, but its no civ 3.

The pretty graphics are nice, the sounds are nice, the whole game looks and feels nice..but..it just doesnt seem to have the same game dynamic as the other civs. It plays too fast for my liking, and there's too much going on. The religion thing is a good idea poorly implemented, adn doesnt really do that much for you (well not as much as it could have done if they hadn't been so worried about political correctness)

Still fun to play and worth the 18quid from play, but i still prefer Civ3

I like it a lot but Im also puzzled by the religion aspect, I quite work out how it affects things, not sure if its an exntesion of your cultural influence or what? Always great satisfaction when a city joins your nation just becuase you are cooler than their old country Still get annoying battles when archers beat modern troops though.

Do any of you lads think the largest map size is a bit on the small side. In civ3 it seems so much bigger.

I'm complete rubbish at this game, I always get muscled into a corner by some other scary country and can't expand any more

I find cvi4 to be absolutely brilliant, v. smooth and lovley looking. However, i agree with above that its too fast and the maps are too small.
I know they were trying to get rid of the micro-management and they have made it much more dip in and out-able but in some ways i like the old i've been playing civ for 3 days straight and i stil havnt finshed my game kind of feeling.

Civ 4 is excellent. It is everything Civ3 should have been. The interface is a big step forward and the whole package seems well balanced and very polished.

Anyone have any tips for getting a decent multiplayer game? I thought there might be some ladders setup but I cant seem to find any.

    i so want this game.

But alas my family keep saying "your not allowed to buy anything before christmas now" but at least it gives me time to finish the games ive already got, and actually see my friends.

So the million dollar question, which would i prefere civ 3 or 4, since i thought civ 2 was practically perfect.
