Games Hitching, NEED HELP!!!

Hey guys,
I have realized lately that every 3-5 mins of game time I play, a game freezes for about 1 second, then goes again. Its really strange. It happens in BF2, but I understand this because I have 1GB RAM. But it also happens on Hl2, NFSU2 and MOH PA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I dont know why! The only background programs running are norton internet security, my joytech controller program and the nvidia firewall
