Talking I played an Xbox360 today

Walked into HMV down Oxford Circus today, and completely unexpected they had three FREE booths (as in cheap free, and no one using them ) I ran like them as if I was a kid outside of Disneyland.

It was those famous Samsung HDTV booths. I played Kameo, CoD2 and King Kong.

I have to say King Kong does in fact seem better than it does on the PC. I don't know what it is but it genuinely seems better.

Call of Duty was looking good, and it seemed like a very console friendly game, but I got a bit bored playing the demo I already completed on my computer.

Kameo did look very nice I have to say, but I'm not a platformer fan so I can't say I played this long enough to really judge how it is, but it seemed ok to me. Mind you though I can imagine wasting nights on end on this, it was the game I played longest. Effects are quite cool, very nice parallex mapping etc everywhere, and colourful and bright. I want this game now

For some reason I don't think the HDTV was at its fullest (at 1080i or p or whatever it should be) but I think it was at the lower res HD range. The game was still high quality and high res but like on my TFT, the pixellated edges were a tad bit large. Also as far as I know, Kameo was missing Anti-Alaising, can't remember if CoD2 had it (I think CoD did have AA) and King Kong was a bit too fast to tell.

Omgosh the controller fits really nicely in the hand. I was so tempted to press the Xbox nipple (yes, its called a nipple my friends, so giggle as you may) on the controller but I completely forgot about it. But its so comfortable. The texture was quite distinctive too, like a bit rough, like on the original xbox controllers. Also the Xbox was truely teh sex. If god made a babe in the form of a console this could pretty much be mans imitation.

Bring on Nov 25th Xbox tour (not 35th lol), half an hour of games

LOL u joka. your not the first to say that the 360 aint all that, i havge ehard numerous feedback similer to yours unreal from the states, all saying the graphics look like a high end pc. now the question is, is it worth buying it? IMO nope!!

    i wont buy it cuz

    1. i already have a mid high pc(i can spend same amount on a 360 to upgrade my pc into a high end pc)
    2. its not a HUGE leap in gaming as far as im concerned. look at nintendo to snes, from sega mega drive to playstation, from playstation to ps2.. xbox to xbox 360? not such a HUGE difference IMO...

i'l wait a see what ps3 has to offer and if its the same than i will pre order PS4/xbox 360 + 180 . im sure those consoles will make a massive leap in gaming

I played on the 360 last weekend when I was at the Best of Stuff show. The graphics were pretty good, but as unreal said, they didnt really gave you many demos to play.

Anyway, the 360 actually crashed--- no joke--- it just froze, they had to open the thing up (not the 360, but the standy thing) and reset it.

    Guys,

this is the sort of arguement that i find flawed in terms of the X360. What i think people have to understand is that games will always "look" similar to each other both on high end PC's and the next Gen consoles. This is down to the fact that they are basically hacked PC's to do just one thing. That being gaming.

The gaming experience on a X360 is far superior to PC's if you want to play Racing games, beat em ups and things which consoles are suited for. The PC's are best if you like Simulation games or First person shooters (tho some people still love things like Halo2 multiplayer with friends)

I've not had a console since the sega megadrive and i'm going to be getting a x360 (have one pre-ordered) The reasons?, well i can see all my mates playing games without a problem, I feel the launch title selection is Very Strong, I look at the alternate titles from the usual Fifa 200x and see some great gameplay.

You also have an awful lot of benefits for a x360, streaming MP3's from my main rig is also a key importance to me.

Does it mean i'll be dumping my PC, certainly not, i feel that x360 and PC's go hand in hand, but is the X360 ****e, Certainly not. £280 won't get you the top of the range gfx card, it won't get you a all singing all dancing PC unless you have socket 939 already.

Gaming advances from x360 from xbox and ps2 are huge imo. You are flawed in your thoughts about PS4 etc, By the time we get to those consoles the PC market will have advanced the same amount.

How do you think the games get programmed?, they get programmed to the technology of the time, PC or Consoles. They are becoming very similar architecture and will likely converge even more. You look back and see CD drives, now DVD and HDD on X360 etc etc.

NEXT Next gen consoles will probably run on large solid state flash drives and be absolutely tiny. Its the same way i see PC's going.

    Cheers for listening
    TiG

umm cuz i am too lazy 2 take it off and just chose any random picture has my banner...

u can get a 6800 ultra for 260 mate if i was you i will wait for the ps3 2 come out. why bother waste money on 360 when a ps3 could prove to be more powerful and innovating than a 360? how has the 360 made a BIG leap towards xbox in terms of graphics, gameplay and innovation? nuttin IMO. 360 to me has only maybe 50, 60% more graphics power than xbox. they both have online gaming, both have HDD, u can get a wireless controller for xbox too!! i was expecting CGI type graphics on this new console, that would of taken a HUGE leap....guess we have to wait for xbox 360 +180 to come out in 10 years time 4 us to see anything like that

    unless your rich, buy both...

    u can get a 6800 ultra for 260 mate
and a 6800ultra is no longer a high end gfx card.

Both ATI and Nvidia have a new range of gfx cards above the 6800 / x850 range.

jonney, Have you actually read anything about the Xbox 360? The graphics chip in there IS an innovation in itself!

Instead of using spearate pixel and vertex shaders it uses shaders that can be switched to do either as the game demands. This means there aren't bits of silicon in the machine doing nothing until they're needed, the whole GFX chip is working all the time (if the game demands using all the shaders, that is).

I agree that the PS3 has the potential to be the more powerful machine but as we'll not be seeing that until March next year and it's most lilekly a UK release won't be until late 2006 (working on Sony's previous release schedules for hardware, that gives MS a huge advantage in the market place.

The more people that buy an Xbox 360, the more developers will write games for it and the more they write games, the better those games will be as devs learn how to get more from the hardware. Many of the folks I've spoken to have said how they think the Xbox 360 is an easy machine to write for, the SDKs for it make it easy with the minimum of faffing about. The PS3 has admittedly more potential but is, apparently, hrder to get that extra out of purely due to its architecture.

Also, don't forget that the last reports say that the PS3 will be using 7800 GPUs, though I wouldn't be surprised if that changed before release.

I'm not an Xbox 360 fan-boy but I'll be getting one ofr two reasons, regardless of the fact I need one for work anyway. First, it's a games console that naturally favours certain types of games, as TiG said and second, its a media centre all wrapped up in one handy box which has been my big barrier from sticking a media center in my lounge... The Xbox 360 is more than a gaming console, which is why it has more appeal to me that other consoles before it.
