    Talking Gun : Pc

Got it delivered this morning and have to say its amazing. Its been getting average reviews but I am hooked on it !

Apparently theres only around 6 hours of play if you miss out the side quests but I feel compelled to deal justice out and do them !

There has been a few western games in the past but they have never really been that good, however this one plays and looks fantastic. Its a 3rd person action / adventure, with incidents that happen at the start of the game you go looking for vengeance which takes you all over the unlawful west full of bandits and apaches. To get about you do it the old fashioned way on horseback !

Controls on the riding bits of the game look and feel realistic, it feels like the horse you are riding is a living thing, only downside is that you change horses frequently so cant get attached to any one in particular.

Then you have an RPG type stats which can be upped by doing the sidequests (another reason to actually do them ! ). Each time you finish one of these short quests things like gunhand, quickdraw, riding and the like gets upped by a few points. It all depends on what the sidequest is as to what you actually get.

You can also up the stats on you're weapons with speed loaders etc, make money from sidequests and go buy extra weapon upgrades to make you all the more lethal (one of them bores the barrel on you're guns and it ups the damage)

Only downside is the croshair, its quite sizeable and not overly acurate, by which I mean you could hit an elephants backside at 300 metres. With the quickdraw function (only available for a limited time and then it has to recharge) game goes into slo mo where after a little practice you will be taking enemies on horseback down with headshots and shooting flaming arrows from the air as they arc towards TNT barrels.

Overall from what I've played its all good, to coin a phrase by Nick and his Punisher review its "popcorn gaming" at its very best. It does feel like a port and I noticed during the install process one of the folders is named xbx (go figure ! ). It doesnt matter though as its pretty origional, very addictive and highly playable. It does seem to be a bit of a system hog with everything maxxed out, even in 800x600 res I was getting some major framerate drops (this only seems to happen to me when games are ported from a console as Quake 4 and CoD 2 I can run in 1024x768 with some details on high and the rest on medium)

If you are wanting something that will keep you going a while and is just a great game to play you cant go wrong with GUN

Managed to have a go on it too and i got to admit that the horse-riding is great. It brings back memories of N64 and Ocarina of time for me!!! I havent managed to play that much, maybe an hours worth, but it seems to be an decent enough game. On the graphics - i like the 'full scene effects' that you can turn on, kinda like post-processing, adding a decent haziness but I guess thats down to personal preference.

@Ferral - strange thing is that i almost have the same system as you, with memory being the only real difference, but i can run smooth at 1280x960. I do have my XP-M oc'ed tho...

Anyway, looking forward to playing it more - seems like a good no-brainer...
