US overall winners, UK could only muster a measly 18th place overall. I'd always seen the UK as a hive of great gamers, so why the poor show?

Nah, the only sport Americans would have an advantage in would be American football. Nobody in the US even knows the rules to soccer. It's like black magic to me.
