What driving game for kids (PC) - recommendations?

    Hi,
The guys are now 4 yrs old and are using a Logitech Momo wheel to drive cars in Need For Speed Underground 2, this is a good game as the cars dont get damaged and the roads generally have 'rails' on them so they dont crash and get stuck.

What I want is a new gane where the following applies or canbe applied by cheats

    - the car is essentially in god mode so it doesnt blow up / get damaged
    - open free roaming mode where they can just drive around especially if they can go into buildings like car parks etc (cant in NFS2 in free roam mode)

the driving doesnt have to be easy as such as they can already drive quite well using the pedals and the steering wheel, they also use this for motogp3 and have some good lap times at donnignton!

Any ideas? I was looking at GTR but this seems just a race game on the track Id rather have a free roaming cityscape, I did look at San Andreas but theres too much violence sdaly, ie mug the driver to get the car/ cars blow up/ you can run over pedestrians .

    Anyway any ideas much appreciated

    thanks

Sega Rally 2 is fun but that is quite an old game
Simpsons Hit and run? Kind of a GTA esc without all the violence/blood etc (you cant kill people)
    Crazy Taxi 1/2/3

I'm not really up on my 'proper' racing games as i find them boring But those are a few 'fun' ones suitable for all ages

I'd go with Crazy Taxi or Midtown Madness 1 or 2, you can just pick them up and play really easily.

Its pretty arcady, and they can get in the practice of evading cops in some of the game modes
yeah but your running from the police etc... promoting illegal ideas to young minds

Yeah NFS Most Wanted will fit the bil nicely...
And to whoever said about "running from the police" "promoting illegal activities".... Unless they're stupid I'm sure the average kid won't use these games as inspiration.. ...

Did anyone else here go on murderous killing sprees after playing the first GTA?

    I know I did.

Yeah I'm with howard there, I played GTA when I was quite young, I turned out ok.. *twitch twitch*.

NFS:Most wanted looks really really good, I thought it was only out for the PSP, but I just found out it's for Xbox, PC, PSP, Xbox 360.. alsorts.

Edit: btw, GTR isn't a good idea for young kids... it's very hard to control, and takes a lot of practice to get the hang of it.. due to the realism fact of it, so once again NFS:Most wanted.

I think the age ratings are on these games for good reasons....would you take a youngster to see an 18 certificate film? Just food for thought.

Give him GTR and you'll have a home grown Kimi Raikonnen in 10 years time. He'd probably be doing a sucessful drift in a ferrari on GTR the next year (which is very very very ultra super duper difficult to do in GTR I tell you..)
    Me want Ultrabook
