300,000 Xbox 360s for European Launch?

What he means to say is it had the right number of 0's.... most pointless of statements ever heh.

To be honest it makes little difference to me as long as they honour all the pre-orders placed.

My theory is that there'll be a large shortage on launch day, to create a load of hype over the xbox 360 and make more people want them as a marketing strategy. Then about 10 days later you'll see stores flooded with xbox 360s and then everyone will run out and buy one for christmas.

Right now microsoft are not telling stores how many to expect on their second shipment just to add to the hype. They've gone for a christmas release for a reason and they haven't been so disorganised they've been unable to make enough to satisfied demand.

I went to PC world where I ordered mine from last week and thye told me they had no idea if they could honour my pre-order yet as they didnt know how many they were getting until they arrived. I went again today and they told me they had recieved enough to fill all the orders so Im happy. I have day off work on Friday too

Ive had mine on pre-order from Play.com for about 2 months now, just phoned them up to see what chance i had of getting one friday to be tolod not a snowballs hope in hell. Microsoft have only allocated them 30 consoles and tehy have something like 13,000 on pre-order. Just goes to show you how muck of a f**k up Microsoft have made. Looks like my computers getting its upgrade after all

It is utterly foolish not to sell it on ebay, especially considering how rare they will be in Europe. American 360s were going for an AVERAGE of 700+ USD (combined averages of the basic pack and the higher end one). You pretty much get a 100% return on your investment.

By Wednesday afternoon, 10,700 Xbox 360s had traded on eBay at an average price of $781, a spokesman for eBay said. The basic unit retails for $300. A premium package that includes accessories and a hard-drive that allows gamers to play existing Xbox titles costs $400.

Thats plays fault for taking so many pre-orders.
While MS wont give exact figures, they give a rough idea to retailers. Dont you think its strange that GAME / Dixons / Big highstreet retailers can give everyone a 360 that was on their "guaranteed" list and had a cut-off point for them, while play just kept taking them ?

At least play dont take any money from you until they dispatch the order, so its not like they profit from it. The online retailers were always going to be the worst choice for getting one unless you ordered REALLY REALLY early.

I just rang play.com and they said they have no idea how many consoles they're getting.
I pre-ordered in May but i'm still not sure i'm going to get one

Woah May! If I don't get mine on Friday morning from Gameplay, I'm going to go to all the high street shops I know that'll have them, and see if I can get one.
