New Genesis / Mega Drive RPG being released this December!

Looks like a new RPG is going to be released for the Sega Genesis, Sega Megadrive and Sega Nomad videogame systems, right in time for Christmas!

    http://www.beggarprince.com/

I had read speculations that it will be about 40 bucks, but I think that’s a bit over priced even for a new Genesis game.
Never the less, it looks pretty cool for Genesis Standards.

Interestingly enough, it seems that they'll also release an enhanced version later on for the SEGA MEGA CD!

For the combat system, it seems to utilize the traditional Final Fantasy style, turned based mechanics, rather than the real-time, action oriented of Zelda & Terranigma on the SNES.
Not exactly my cup of tea, but I know quite a few SEGA/RPG fan boys which should get pretty excited about this & will probably pick it up when it's released.

Other sites I have found concerning the game:

    http://www.sega-spetsnaz.com/SegaSpetsnaz-News01.htm

    http://www.sega-16.com/Feature-%20Be...%20Preview.htm

    http://dfg.the-underdogs.org/bp/cge2k5/index.html

    http://www.gamestats.com/objects/754/754946/

So, get those Genesis's dusted up off. At least until someone dumps the game that is…

Sounds like a bunch of die-hard fans made this in their spare time (read; no costs) and it's only available from them via mail order (again, no costs) but they can't duplicate it themselves it's a cartridge game, surely? Hmm..they must be sure of their target base if so - I don't know how many cartridges they've had made and at what cost, but I bet they'll need to sell a fair few to offset this!

Sheesh, what next? A Speccy game?

I think this is a good idea myself, it'd be pretty damn cool to be able to buy new games for the retro consoles. Imagine a true sequel to the sonic series.

Good for them. Nothing wrong with supporting the classic formats, even if a few cynical people deride them for it.

There's a lot of variables to contend with as to the price. But if you've got access to certain equipment already (and a lot of people do) you can run off carts for a couple of quid a shot.

The most hassle I would think would be the packageing.

I went through a phase of rebuying all my old Sega Megadrive/MegaCD/32x hardware and games a while back. Second/Third childhood indeed - retro rules - but fair play if a team wants to release new games for an old platform. Kewl.

Still got my Megadrive set up under the TV, not really looking for titles, but if I see GoldenAxe, I'll be parting with the best part of not a lot at all really. Classic game.

I think the Streets of Rage 2 cart has fused with my Megadrive.
