I don't agree that the 360 is junk, and taking into account the average or better launch line-up and the fact that all consoles sell for this sort of price when they come out, I don't agree that it’s a rip-off either.Quote:

I heard it described as 'the most important video games console release ever' on BBC News 24 yesterday, and that, I agree, is incorrect and entirely hype.
PGR3 has been pretty universally described as a fantastic looking game, certainly on a nice HDTV screen. I know that the bridge that features on one of the tracks uses more polygons than an entire city used in PGR2 on the Xbox.Quote:
Where is the anti analysing in Project Gotham Racing 3? The car is scruffy as hell and the handling hmmm GT4 for me thanks.... the textures on the buildings looked ok... then when i actually stopped and looked they are just smoothed out pixelated blurred textures on the building windows etc. the only part that look resonably good was the tunnel/blue bridge with all the construction rails. But again very scruffy graphics.
Controller looks and feels fine, to me. I'd suggest you spend a bit more time with it; a lot of controllers take some time to get used to, but once you do, the better designed ones (and from what I've read, this is one of the better ones and a massive improvement on the original Xbox pad) grow on you.Quote:
Not worth the wait IMHO. and I am not saying this because I want a PS3/revolution... because if they are 2 this standard then screw that idea... personally I’d prefer some dual x1800's running games at 1600x1200:devilish:. also what is with the controller... the material that its made of is horrid to hold... at first I thought this was due to some kind of coating where it was fixed to a machine stand with a little 21" screen... but apparently not because I look behind me and there’s the same controller in a sat in a retail box:inquisiti
Not really sure what you mean by 'flaws it'. A PC with the current top GPU on a nice big monitor playing Call of Duty 2 compared to a 360 on a nice big HDTV screen playing Call of Duty 2 would both give you the same, very impressive, experience.Quote:
I have to overall say... it looks good at a glance when someone else is playing it and then when you stand in front of it and you’re playing it it’s like pfft waste of money!
To be honest it doesn’t deserve to be called "cutting edge" or "next generation" because the PC flaws it with the cards available.
Graphics are not the bottom line for a good video game; game play always has been and always will be. A game that plays badly but looks good is not a good game. Therefore, you need to look past the sparkly explosions and particle effects and see how the games play.Quote:
where as when the ps1-ps2 or ps1-xbox/gamecube leap went you were like wow that looks better than a pc... but with the 360 this doesn't reign true TBH... the only thing I can think is that the games were rushed and that they can improve but either way it aint going to improve that much:inquisiti
I didn't think 'wow that looks better than the PC' when I got my Gamecube; I didn't really gives a monkeys how it compared to a PC (And neither, I should add, would Nintendo). What I actually thought was 'Wow, I'll be able to play the new Zelda \ Mario \ Metroid on this'.
And I did. The Windwaker, Metroid Prime and Mario Sunshine were all fine games, other games have looked better, not many have played better.
Actually, I was playing an N64 the other day, with Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time. These games look nothing special these days, but they take the Xbox 360 launch line-up and eat it alive in every possible way, outside of visuals.
Kameo, PGR3, Perfect Dark Zero - all fine games, but not in that AAA class.
Anyway, point being - new flashy graphics are nice, but there is so much more to what makes a good game.
I've no interest in shooting you down; perhaps you could wait for other peoples opinions and see if you agree with them, before launching into your rather predictable 'everyone who disagrees with me is a fanboy' line. It just doesn't work, mate. :)Quote:
Of course this will appeal to the Xbox and M$ fanboys out there that will try and shoot me down.
This isn't a Yahoo Chatroom, coming in here calling whatever it is you are talking about a piece of junk, then saying fanboy a lot to the people who might disagree with you, and then putting some flame disclaimer at the end isn’t how we do things here.
We try to keep the level of discussion a bit higher than that. Many thanks for understanding.
And again. Mate - it means nothing. Stop. :) Just give your opinions and your reasons for them and others will do the same. Much better for intelligent discussion of the issue, don't you find?Quote:
But then maybe you all are Xbox fanboys.
No-one is going to flame you if you give an opinion. Just try to put it across with reasoning. You'll find you get 'flamed' on HEXUS for spouting nonsensically drivel at people (not that I am suggesting your post was, just a little tip for you) not for discussing a games console in the gaming forums.Quote:
 I thank you for your time and don't flame me as I doubt you can change my view and by the way I probably wont reply to your flames as I have added my 2 cents.
Stewart.
I have been playing on mine for a while, and these are my thoughts:
Interface:
Fantastic, easy to use, simple, straight forward - no issues here (yet!)
Controller:
Oh my god - feels great, really like it - much "softer" than the XBOX1 pads, and also the wireless action rocks.
XBOX Live:
Not used much - too busy playing around with the MCE stuff
MCE Stuff:
I love it - very easy to setup, however the audio streaming sucks - I ran it through the same speakers as my normal Media Centre, and it sounded really bad - not sure if this is due to the quality of the streaming? Can't be the sound chip - in game action rocks.
Console:
Part of me thinks it looks nice, part of me thinks it looks ugly - I don't care what anyone says, MS did this for a reason - well, at least I think they did. They will sell loads of clip on face plates - I would be tempted to buy another plain one and spray it.
The unit is also *extremely* loud - I have a full P4 3.6 Media Centre next to mine and the Media Centre and Projector TOGETHER are quieter.... shocking to be fair.
Overall - it kicks ass, and its no longer a case of the dad dancing at the sons party - MS have a really good contender.
Will I get a PS3? Sure... Will it replace my XBOX360? Who knows.
Expensive? Well depends how much you use it. I know people who have bought them with 5 or 6 games already which seems bonkers to me.
I spent most of last night playing PGR3 online, the live stuff just works so well. Cant wait until i manage to get hold of a VGA cable so I can hook it up to my PC display to see it in lovely high res.
This is qiuite a concern. Obviously the system runs pretty warm (hence crashing issues/hot CDs/etc.) and so the fan is spinning really quickly to cool it. Hmmm.Quote:

Sorry, but it does.
I watched over the shoulder of two lads playing an x360 racing game in-store yesterday and I have to say it was not as good as I had thought it would be. If it was possible I would have tried to bump up the AA considerably, however I'm not sure if this first appearance disappointment was due to the split screen action but as 1 lap of 5 was taking ages I didn’t stick around to see if the single player full screen effect was any better. I shall reserve my full judgement until I get a proper go on a few games. The Samsung flat screen LCD which was mounted with the display unit was nice though.
My local Comet had one in a booth but they hadnt bother to set it up right for HD so it didnt look as good as it should, myabe that place was the same?
Bingo, these booths aren't running them on HD screens, I've no idea why not, but they aren't showing the real quality the machine is capable of.
Yeah a lot of places are running on HD screens but misconfigured.
I also really like the way you can call up the Xbox Dashboard to change the music or chat or something, while a game is loading. Me and my friends spammed the xbox button like little children and its pretty fly at doing what its supposed to do with no problem at all. I have an IDE 2 USB cable too so I might plug my storage drive in and just fill the 20gb hard drive with err... 'family' pictures and videos >_>
I also thought the controller was the utter business, more comfortable and natural than any controller I've ever held (no exagurration).
Better than the PS2 dualshocks?
I'm really p****d off that it won't stream divx files. They said on their site that they could do any encoded file streamed as long as the MCE PC can play it, yet this just shows up a "codec problem" on the 360. I'm gonna write a complaint to microsoft over this because this was one of the main reasons for me buying one. Suppose I'll have to wait a few months for a hack, which I really didn't want to do. I like having an out of the box system as it is which works and paying for the games as I feel its worth it.Quote:

Yes it is loud when you play games...
I thought so, I even remember saying it to BhavinQuote:

I actually played on one of these today in gamestation. King Kong it was... imo it looked incredible. There must be a lot of people having lots of fun with the likes of Project gotham and Perfect Dark.
I found the joypad fitted into my hands well (a huge improvement) and the buttons are naturally placed.
The demo pod only had a small tv (though it was a nice Samsung HDTV model) very impressive picture.
cool nice one man
