    Question GTA or GTA:3/4/5/6/whatever??

Kinda an ever so slight spin off of the violence thread, I figured I'd find out what y'all thought about GTA.

Did you prefer to play the classic, top down GTA's (GTA/GTALondon, GTA2)

or do you like the fancy 3D ones (GTA3 onwards?)

Personally Hands down favourite are the original ones, they may not have the facny graphics or realism of the newer ones, but in terms of sheer fun..

Eg in GTA going for the GOURANGA was always cool, or in the second one going for the Elvis's for a 'ELVIS HAS LEFT THE BUILDING' etc etc, just endless fun. The missions always seemed a lot more 'pick up and play', ie there didnt seem to be as much of a story line forcing you in one particular (albeit open) way as with the newer ones. they just seem to be more open, I get more of a feeling of beign able to do whatever you like.

I think that they were more violent in their own way too, its just that the more cartoonish graphics kind of hid it from you Although it was funny to drive down the pavement and jsut see a load of red spodges behind you hehe

Both of them are free to download now too, so if you have been unfortunate enough to not play them before the 3D versions came out, go grab them and see what you think

I've never really been a big fan of the GTA series regardless. I did quite enjoy Vice City as it was a bit more story driven than the others.

I played and enjoyed Mafia a lot more though, felt it had more depth than the GTA series (favourite game ever still, it even surpassed my Last Ninja 2 addiction on the Commodore 64 all those years ago ! )

I love them all, alhtough I've never completed one, they just take up too much time.

I can't wait for School Bully by Rockstar (think it might be called Bully).

I love the new ones.. The combination of the 3D environment and no restrictions means it's pretty much "real life" and you can do what you want where you want... Go out to get food, go to the gym, shoot people in the face, etc

I liked them all. But the best of all, in my opinion, is the GTA San Andreas. This game absolutely ROCKS!!!

I love San Andreas. I've played all the GTA's, including the first original one from when I was really young .

Got better and better everytime they brought one out.. (well maybe excluding London 1969).

Hope that the next GTA will have a new and more powefull engine though, as I'm not sure as I like the engine RockStar are currently using anymore, good whilst it lasted though..

Have you got a link to these free downloads? Couldn't see them on the rockstart website and can only find GT demos on download.com...

I had a lot more fun with GTA2, but I think the newer ones are better games. I'm just not into that crap anymore.

All GTA games are a lot of fun, even after you beat them you can still play them for months and months. Quality series.

Vice City is the best one so far...
