Err...Steve, have you read the story?
I only ask because no 'hacking' has taken place at all. A group of people have dumped the contents of an xbox 360 game to an ISO file. The responsible group admit that 'At the moment, you can't run this image'. They've produced dumps of several games.
Completely pointless. Running the game is not possible in software alone, and no hardware modification or 'modchip' exists for the 360. My opinion is this group are eager for the fame/notoriety that regular 'cracking groups' achieve, but have only succeeded in making themselves look a bit silly,

You can run unsigned (or copied games for instance) on a Xbox with no hardware modification, so its not completely pointless.Originally Posted by Deadlight
If they had said the same thing about the Xbox when it started, the modding scene would not have been anywhere near what it is now.
when xbox360 is modchipped and runs linux and homebrew then and only then will i consider one.not because i hate microsoft and favour piracy... as i have a modded xbox and love it
just because the possibility of a cheap powerfully pc/mebiabox/console is tastyhence modded xbox

Well it was extremly obvious this was going to happen.
And this type of thing will always happen, even in 20 years time, games will still be pirated one way or another, no matter how much security there is.
how long before they'll be 200GB SATA in xbox 360's
LOl bout the article btw- it shows whatever Next Gen game console companies bring out- that every hacker can beat the Anti piracy stuff- like with every pc game-with a new online game-within the release of the demo, the hackers have beaten the game engine and made hacks![]()

Eh? On the 360? (which is what we're talking about here)Originally Posted by Agent
You obviously know something I don't. If you can copy a game and run it on an unmodded xbox, why isn't everyone doing it?

No, the Xbox.Originally Posted by Deadlight

My point was that a 'modchip' is not always needed to run unsigned code. Its pretty easy to run unsigned code on an Xbox without actually installing a modchip.
Besides, these disks must have had some form of encryption on them, like the original Xbox. If this has already been cracked open / bypassed in some way, perhaps the hackers are further ahead than they are being given credit ?
