I take it you have a core system? As long as you have HD component input on your TV it will work...

Umm for HD on an XBox 360 - does it have a component output cable with the Premium system or only HDMI?

Xbox 360 dont do HDMI only component input, hence why you have to spend a pretty penny on a decent TV to get true Hi Def out of it. Darrensen, you cant get Hi Def out of a normal xbox.

Take a look at the link in thr 1st post. It looks like they do.....this is why i'm confused.

In this link they do an advanced AV pack, in other words it uses s-video and has the optical output.

    http://www.consolesandgadgets.co.uk/...s-c-26_38.html

I have a feeling you might be able to get 480p high def outta the (1st) xbox

EDIT: also see this review on High def for xbox

    http://www.reviewcentre.com/review180506.html

(looks like i was also right about 480p)

    What do you think chaps....possible???

    OK soz for thread hijacking

BUT I have a Dell 2405FPW so I think the 360 will be fine on that Does the 360 premium pack come with a suitable cable for HD?

If you have component input then yes, but im unsure if it will be true hi def, it will look good but I dont think it will be in HD.

480p is standard definition and I dont think you will notice any difference between that and PAL. It might work on a HD input on a TV for instance but it wont be a true HD. The 360 is the only console at the moment that renders in 720p and 1080i

    Hope this helps

I don't understand why it wouldn't be in HD??

The res is 1920 x 1200 and the component input works with HD input

I give it a go see what the results are like?

Anyone tried S-Video and is it much better?

    Xbox = Not HD

Xbox 360 = HD available via component video, or you can get a VGA cable. Probably will be more methods made available in the future.

    Hope this clears things up.

As for S video, id say try it and decide for yourself.

TO the op you can get high def out of an original export. These guys http://www.cagames.co.uk/about.html import the high def kits from america for it. But not all games support it, most will only do 480p, with the odd one doing 720i, there is a list somewhere but i cant remember where it is.
