my wife wants to use it to practice her driving.
don't laugh, is just like using a flight simulator before the real thing
what would you recommend? preferably not a racing sim as they just have race tracks; prefer something with streets
cheers

gran turismo is pretty accurate with the way a car handles. give her manual gears too
Teaching someone racing techniques who is new to driving would probably make them a worse driver!
TBH, i dont think there is really anything out there that simulates real life road driving and would actually help someone become a better driver. Probably because it would be dull and anyone can go out and drive a car, unlike airplanes and hence why flight sims have a following.
Grand prix Legends. Nuff said.
*edit* just read whole thread. Mid Town madness 2
CoolerMaster ftw!!!
But are there any realistic learner-driver cars in this game? (Honest question)Originally Posted by FrontSideBus

Some people will probably disagree with me here.. but with a steering wheel for the PC I think Need for Speed Most wanted is pretty realistic if you stick to about 30mph... but it's pretty hard to keep at the speed considering you can just stick your foot down to 200mph
Streets and cops too... help practice the wife how to shake off the coppers.
gran turismo 4, but its nothing like the real thing, even with a logitech 700deg wheel. get her in a propper car.
hughlunnon@yahoo.com | I have sigs turned off..

ahahah - I never did understand GT4Originally Posted by nvening

oh, btw....... Live for speed!. Before I started to learn driving I was using that.. only with a keyboard at the time but that feels pretty realistic imo, with a driving wheel of course.
There is a car park and stuff, all the rest are tracks.
TOCA RD2 some lovely shops on the street circuits....lol
GTLegends has some old and slowish cars, like Mini for example, and it does feel very realistic. On some tracks you can get off the circuit into the paddok and practice parking... But to be honest only thing it may help with is which way to turn the wheel when going forward. There are so many differences between games and driving from a practical point of view. She'll have a shock switching from gear paddles on the game to a gear shifter with clutch and everything. And she'll get the bad habbit of flooring it out of the corners. Just get her driving lessons.
Tough on mirrors, tough on the causes of mirrors.
somewhere i hav a dvla practical course test thing which is just a simulation its very accurate and is meant to prepare you for ur test which i still need to take
these driving simulations only become fun when the player ALREADY has substantial knowledge and practical experience in driving fast. The thing u get is actually realistically predictable reactions, in a lot more safer environment and less the adrenalin rush.
But for any Tommy kid that owns a GT4 and expects to drive the real thing. PFFTT.. forget it. For ppl who likes to drives and dun mind a little trip down to a local circuit shud know wat i mean.. I had lots of fun with GTR, just there arent any adrenalin rush from positive, negative and lateral g's. Pity GTR doesnt offer Sepang F1 circuit as a choice in its track, or else I would have remembered the track inside out.
Judgement becomes a problem as well, because of the lack of actual experience with the real thing. But its as good as it gets unless you spend £5000 for a custom hydraulic seat that simulates those bumps as well.
Me want Ultrabook
