Following on from the news that the PS3 may have staggered shipments - the difference between Japan and Europe being almost 1 year, would you prefer to see a Worldwide launch similar to Xbox 360?

Australia is usually last eg Xbox360 late March 2006...
Maybe it's due to initial supply of Blu-ray drives?
I would snag one and ebay it, but with my luck, Sony would end up having plenty of stock and I would end up with a useless Sony product (yes, I'm still boycotting Sony and will probably continue the rest of my life unless I see a rational position on fair use).
love to see a worldwide launch, i think this is important becuase of the ever increasing empahsis on online gaming...
I would like to see it launched into space....
Never to return again
Anyone seen my opteron?
snap! been considering this but i really would hate to be landed with it so i probably wont bother.Originally Posted by smtkr
I think MS proved that a worldwide release (thats a laugh) can be fraught with problems. The biggest being not enough time to manufacture the units needed. Sony will have watched MS struggle and thought to themselves that MS have shot themselves in the foot.
Sony will be ramping up their production facilities right now producing the Cell chips and the Blu-Ray drives with Nvidia increasing production on the GPU's. You also have to remember that Sony launched the PS2 in Japan by having 1Million units ready with them selling 980,000 (god knows where the 20K went) on day one. So Sony know how to release a console, if that means waiting the usual 9 months for us in Europe, then i don't mind, as it will also give them time to fix any faults (ala PSP)
Also its worth waiting as the launch games are usually not up to much. the PS2s catalogue was woeful for the 1st year.

What i'd like to know is does this make revolution more likely to come out BEFORE ps3 in europe then????.
IF so surely that will complicate matters much further for the ps3???.

I'm waiting to see if Microsoft capitalise on this, if this is true then they have a large windows in which to pimp the 360 in the USA and Europe to death and try and get a majority share of gamers.
Ramp production up wildly, knock £20/£30 off the price in both continents and they could do well. It won't happen though...
