    what i need for server

    what do i have to do to get counter strike source 16 people what do i do to put server up my comp is p43.4, 2 gig ram, 2 x 200 gig hard drives. ati x700 super 512 ddr so what do i need to do to get server on steam

    Source dedicated server comes with steam.
    just run that and your away.

    What do you mean no one can join it? Have you given them the correct IP and port number? Have you allowed access through your firewall?

    well if thats true he wont be comming back

    pride, make sure (as ajbrun said) your firewalls off, check to see youve given people the right I.P+Port, if your using a router check that those ports are open and you may even want to set up a port forward to your server from your router to mak sure its acessible from the out side.

    I think thats all you would need to do.

    simple - he can give me his server, and I'll build him a proper one and configure his firewall. sorted.

    IIRC there's been about 20 threads about this in gaming already, nothing that can't be resolved without the search function.

    heh - my blueyonder pipe is now a big, fat 10mbit - lurvly - so I'm even leaving 1 server here when I move to NZ (just hope nobody will notice the big, black beastie under the stairs!)
