Which Xbox 360 games should I get?

I'm giving away my old Xbox system to my nephew (games and all) so i'll be starting from scratch again when I receive my new Xbox 360 next week. It's a Premium model but has no games with it. I'll be transferring my current Xbox Live membership to Xbox 360 Live and need to buy some Xbox 360 games over the weekend.

Which games do you guys recommend. From the old Xbox I liked Rainbow Six 3 and some of the car games (eg. PGR2). Are there similar games for the 360? I also play mainly online so good Live games are needed. I've got a budget to buy around 4 games this weekend so name your top 4!

I'd recommend Project Gotham Racing 3, Perfect Dark Zero, Dead or Alive 4 and depending on whether you like football or not, Fifa Road to World Cup 2006/Condemned.

Fight Night Round 3 is one I'll definately be getting and so is Elder Scrolls IV : Oblivion. Those two are a while away from release though .

It depends which type of games you like

For fps style games call of duty 2 (which also has the best online multiplayer) or perfect dark zero

For action/RPG, Kameo is great.

For a horror wet your pants type game, condemned.

Racing would be PGR3 or if you prefer less realistic driving and more arcade style racing Ridge Racer 6

For fighting Dead or Alive 4

And for a snowboarding/skating game, amped 3 is good, or tony hawks if you like the other ones in the series.

Have a google and look at some video reviews of the games, also when you get your 360 if you hook it up to xbox live you can download demos to see for yourself if you like it or not. My flatmate reviews games so I've got to play most of the lineup released so far and personally my favourites are call of duty 2, kameo, perfect dark zero and PGR3.

Thanks Slick. Perhaps you can answer another question regarding compatibility of old Xbox games with Xbox 360. Would 'compatible' games also be playable on Xbox 360 Live? i.e. Let's say I loaded up the old Xbox Rainbow Six 3 Black Arrow into my Xbox 360. Would I be able to play that game on Xbox 360 Live?

Project Gotham Racing 3 is the best game on the system at the moment; great single, multi and online game. Looks great, loads of tracks, plenty of cars, Loads to do in single player and a right laugh on live.

Dead or Alive 4 is also great. Same deal; looks great, loads to do in single player, obviously much fun to be had online, and its not the button masher it seems to be, once you learn the subtle but very effective countering, holding and throwing. No real proper beat-em-up rivals at the moment, until Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting is on the Live Arcade, so its another no-brainer.

Those are the two strongest, after that, if you want some nice looking, slick, but same-old FPS action, Perfect Dark Zero is a good choice. Doesn't do anything different, but looks good while it isn't doing it, and its worth a play. Don't bother with the Limited Edition though, I've got it, and its just a bit of card with a hologram and a comic in a tin box.

The cloest you can get to some Mario 64 style platform \ adventuring is Kameo: Elements of Power. Reasonable game, worth playing through, but you wont be coming back to it after, and you'll be playing Gotham and DoA years after you play Kameo for the last time.

Sports games - both the Basketball games are dodgy, FIFA is terrible, and the NHL game looks nothing special either. Madden is a laugh, but most of us wouldn't buy it, but its the best avalible at the moment, until Fight Night Round 3 is out.

Call of Duty 2 is supposed to be good, might be a good choice is PDZ doesn't appeal.

Smash TV and Mutant Storm Reloaded on the Live Arcade as well. Loads of fun.

It's the game I have played most on my xbox360.

The only one I've not played (inc sports titles) is Kameo and I should have bought that instead of PDZ. If anyone wants to swap PM me.

PGR3 is a must if you like racers.

I'd recommend GUN unless you've already played it on the Xbox.

PGR3, Kameo, DOA4, Geometry Wars Evolved, NBA Live 06 and the Fight Night 3 Demo get my playtime at the moment. I've got Tony Hawk's too, which is a laugh, but I played it to death on the PS2 so I only trot it out now and again and will use it as a trade-in for FN3 or Oblivion.

Is Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3 series going to make an appearance on the Xbox 360? I played it to death on the old Xbox. It was the only game I ever played! I'm going to miss Garage and Airport...

I've mostly played PGR 3 and Kameo so far, have to say both are pretty impressive. Got PDZ as well but havent touched it yet. I am currently plying through NBA live 06 and its not as bad as the reviews made out it was.

As for games to recommaned, I would go for Kameo, PGR 3 and Call of Duty 2. All of them are great fun.

Can't agree more on the NFS: MW v PGR , I've both but I've barely played pgr3 just NFS:MW

Waiting for godfather to come out and maybe far cry as well
