    BF2 & Punkbuster

Not sure if this is the right forum.

I've installed and been playing BF2 since July and never had any problems, but recently I keep getting kicked from servers due to punkbuster needed to update. I've left BF2 running for 10 minutes ands gone back into a server, then after about 30 minutes of playing I get kicked for the same reason. So I went to the punkbuster website and downloaded and ran the latest update for BF2. I then played some more rounds and it all seemed fine, but the other day I got kicked again. It's really starting to frustrate me and I don't really know what to do.

Any suggestions? A mate suggested uninstalling and reinstalling both BF2 and SF, which I'll try tonight. Is there anything else I can try as this will probably take the best part of an hour.

    Cheers

    G

Are you patched fully? Have any random mods installed? Is there another punkbuster patch?

I've installed the 1.12 patch, are there anymore since then? 1.2 isn't out yet is it?

    No mods are installed.

Turns out uninstalling then installing again makes no difference at all. After about 30 mins playing I get the same problem. I'll try what you did gordy.

Managed to get a fix for this now, as you said Gordy, it was just a case of downloading and installing Punkbuster manually.

Here are the instructions that PB Support gave me:

    1) Download PBSetup for windows from this link:

    http://websec.evenbalance.com/downlo...ws/pbsetup.exe

    2) Create a directory like "C:\Program Files\PBSetup" and move pbsetup.exe to this location. Any folder will do, at any location.

    3) Run PBSetup - (Recommended) Create a desktop shortcut to pbsetup.exe from where you downloaded and then double click on the icon.
In addition, be aware that PBSetup attempts to locate the installation directory of any game automatically. It does this using a series of "game hints". The "game hints" can be registry entries, hardcoded directories, or system environment variables. Although PBSetup currently detects the game installation paths well, there is a chance that we've missed some locations. If you find that PBSetup does not automatically find your game installation, please fill out a trouble ticket and let us know. Please include the game, your OS, and the complete path to your PB folder.
