Which USB Gaming Headset

Hello all,

I'm after a new gaming headset. I've currently got the Medusa 5.1 setup, but I'm going to get rid of that as I'm fed up of the interference from my mobile and cordless phones. I use the phone quite a lot and value my hearing for me to put up with it anymore.

So, the time comes for a new gaming headset. I'm after value for money, as little clutter as possible and obviously a good quality mic. I'm not bothered about 5.1.

I've picked USB because I'm hoping it will sort out my current mic issues out, where it's VERY quiet. I've tried it in Ventrilo with mic boost, recording volume on full, all the amplifiers up to full whack and the mic is very quiet the other end, unless they turn up there inbound amplifiers. Really puzzled me.

So, with selling the Medusa headset I can put the money towards a new set. What are your recommendations? I've looked on play.com (http://www.play.com/play247.asp?pa=s...et&page=search) but I really don't know what I'm looking for.

Any suggestions?

I personally havnt used them by my my have I heard some very good comments from customers and even scan staff :D

I use the one from the ps2..

Game sound through speakers, voice coms on mono headset :)

I'm using the XFX headset, it's not USB though but I think it's really good value at a tenner.

I plumped for the Logitech one from Scan. £31 (£50 on play.com). It's USB and I'm hoping it will be free from phone interference as it's Logitech's flagship model.

Medussa 5.1 USB headset from Speedlink, best one's I have used to date :D Great sound and bass on them to.

I've got the normal 3.5mm jack medusas. I can't handle the interference from my home and mobile phone buzzing in my head all the time.

Likewise, I wouldn't mind coppin a pair of those, but I need a guinea pig first :D

senheiser pc155/165 if you really want usb, or pc150's if not :D amazing headphones with built in mic.

I've got one of the Sennheisers, absolutely no idea what model, but they have been very good. Worth considering...

Like I said further up I went for the Logitech ones for £31 :)

Mic is very good quality and all you do is plug and play (listen). You have a volume control and mute button on your lead to your headphones. They are quite good headphones, but they push against your head instead of cupping over them like the Medusa's, so prolonged wearing can get uncomfortable and I imagine if you wear glasses then it'll push them against your head.

All in all they are very good for the price, seem well built and the sound quality is pretty decent too.

I have the Medusa but never use it. Mainly because it is too much hassle to setup.

I now use the Logitech gaming headset. Very comfortable and a great headset.

I've got a Sennheiser PC155. It's top notch if you ask me. Never had any problems with interference even though my mobile is always sat right in front of me.
