    Space Sims

Anyone know of any recently released ones? I had a pop at X2 a year or so ago, but it's not as much fun as old school X-Wing/Freespace 2/Privateer 2....

I've got a monster PC, it'd be cool to play a game which really taxes it, beyond HL2 and all the other FPS clones :-)

I'd recommend getting hold of a copy of Freelancer.
    Really good fun.

I got X2: The Threat a couple of weeks after Freelancer and I can count the number of times I've ran the game since on one hand. Can't stand the control system and its boring.

I reinstalled freelancer yesterday really good game but looks abit dated and it didn't support my monitors res. Hve to say I took it straight off. But would highly recommend if you have never played.

space sim, ,,,, well if you like the idea of piloting a space shuttle with real physics then look no further than Orbiter which is FREE!!!, you can fly through the entire solar system, in various aircraft and there are loads of mods being made for it day in day out check out the link, here http://orbit.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/ , its got a very steep learning curve but once youve mastered it then its great!

    I WAR 2 (independance war)

Not well known and a few years old but i still rate it over X2. Not tired X3 but the graphical improvements on that would stretch the PC a bit more

There are graphics upgrades for Freespace 2 if you hunt around the net. That was a great game that.

    Also Babylon Project for FS2 : http://www.hard-light.net/hosted/bab...ws_archive.php

Yeah, I am playing my way through Freelancer now, discovered that a while ago. Not as cool as Freespace and the like though. Maybe I'll dig out my old copy and see what the updates are like.

Anyone know if there are updated graphics engines for the X-Wing games? That would keep me busy for months!

    Freelancer I recommend too.

I have X3, dislike it very much. Very boring, very buggy, very poor effort IMO.

I only wish they hadn't cancelled UFS Vanguard.

I just wish someone would do Elite 2 with modern graphics. That game kicked serious arse. I can't belive the whole universe fit on a floppy disk!

X3 is a brilliant game, it has a huuuuuge learning curve but once yuo get into it you will appreciate the depth of the game all the more. You can basically start your own space business and expand it, into mining, construction, combat, basically anything you could dream of in space. And btw thanks now I have to start playing it again . I think people are also developing mods for X3, and I am pretty sure it will tax your PC... slightly
