    Talking C&C First Decade

Anyone got it yet? I've just got mine in the post today and I'm installing it now.

It's pretty sweet, comes in a slightly bigger than DVD size thick cardboard collectors eddition style box. The box looks nice but on close inspection it looks a little shabby, but it's still nice. Inside is the regular DVD case with 2 DVDs, they managed to fit the entire series onto 1 double layer DVD, and then theres a bonus DVD with some nice content on there.

Takes upto 10Gb on your HDD if you install everything, and it does come with everything, even Renegade, which I was surprised about.

Theres also an A3ish sized double sided poster in there. Overall I think it's a bloody good bargain, for less than £30 I've got all the C&C series on one disk, including all the expansion packs. I've played every C&C game apart from Renegade (soon to be all of them ) and this is possibly the best game set I've found in a long time. Big thumbs up to EA for once, unfortuneately I can't give westwood the thumbs up anymore .

You have a similar system to me, I have been having trouble getting TS or RA2 to install. (The normal old version of TS and RA2) Do you know if you have had any trouble with this version?

I ordered 2 copies of First Decade yesturday so shoudl arrive tommorow, can't wait to start having large LAN games! Hopefully this version will install with out "Setup.exe has to close" error like the old RA2 and TS does on my PC.

Have they fixed multiplayer on the original c&c for this release, reading back through this forum and links out to others I seem to remeber there being some issue with a change in network protocols that prevented it from working any more?

The first 2 C&C games have patches availible from here that enable online play:-

The other C&C games are all new enough to work fine anyway.

There is a new C&C game in developement, they gave a very brief hint of it on the bonus DVD but nothing more than, we are making one.

I didn't have any problems installing the game, but oddly Generals doesn't work, I uninstalled it before I installed Decade and it was working fine, but it just freezes on the splash screen :S.

Not much of a problem though as Zero Hour works and I think I've done everything I want to in generals. One problem with the installation is all those damn CD-keys you have to type in >< Theres 7 to type in

I think I'm gonna check out Tiberian Sun and Firestorm again, I didn't really go through the campaign much on that one. TS really impressed me when I first played it, Caine (sp?) has to be the best villain out of the lot.

You sure Generals is freezing....the very first time you load it can take a couple of minutes on splash screen...just give it about 5 minutes, it's probably setting up it's temporary files in the your 'My Documents' folder. I've experienced this first hand.

I'll give it another shot, but when I open task manager it says not responding. Strange that Zero Hour didn't have that propblem too then.

EDIT: Left it for a while and it started up fine, thanks for that

Glad to see you have not had any problems. I get my copy shortly and hopefully it will all work ok with my hardware and software.

I have been reading posts elsewhere, that people say that the bonus missions on the first few games don't work, and that the extra tracks with covert ops, and aftermath, etc are not there? I am sure it will be fine, and I have read that EA are working on a patch for FD anyway.

using windows Xp pro sp2, a64 3200, x850xt pe latest drivers.

any ideas? been searching the internet but its a hard thing to search for. cheers
