Red Alert 2 Installer fails on New PC

I am a huge fan of C&C, but I have just got a new PC and Generals while being good, does not apeal to me as much as Tiberian Sun or Red Alert, Specs to the left under my name.

When I try to install Red Alert 2 on my computer for a LAN the installer fails. It says that Setup.exe has to close for some reason

I have done some searching and I worked out from Google it might be something to do with my SATA HDD? I got that impression for here: http://www.ntcompatible.com/Red_Aler...se_t34131.html

But to be honest, I am completely clueless as to why it might fail?

Anyone know why it might not work, or how to get it to work? I have tried compatability options, and I am running XP Pro. I have another computer which it installs on fine running the same OS, and Firewall, Anti-Virus, etc. So I am pretty sure its some hardware incompatablity?

*Appologies if this is the wrong sub-forum to post this*

Lack of support for windows xp springs to mind..... and also new generation hardware. The new decade pack is out and it is made to avoid these problems.

Tried running it under emulation mode?

Right click the setup.exe (or whatever) and choose properties.
Now choose the compatibility tab, and try the various modes therein.

@fathazza - I don't think i can update my copies of RA2 until i install it, without buying a newer disc... ie First Decade.

@dangel - Sorry, I have tried compatability. And it failed.

@shiato storm - I think EA just released first decade for that reason. To be honest, for £25 for every C&C game, you can't really go wrong. But I see your point. I already own 3 copies of RA2 and 2 copies of TS, so its anoying having to buy the same game again.

Then again, I am looking forward to EA making a "good and proper" sequal to C&C (Generals does not count), I don't mind buying this if it makes them relise that C&C is still good and they shoudl invest time into it. I thought it was dead after Westwood were no more.

Damn I hope this works, else I have bought 2 copies of First Decade for nothing, lol. Keep an eye on the forums for "2 copies of TFD for sell", lol.

Thanks for your suggestions though. I am just going to blame Microsoft for not making things as compatible as I would like, hehe.

    Thanks Again.
