Small HL:OppForce Question.

Hey All

Quick question, what happens at the end of Opposing Force, I know the ending of HL & Blue Shift, but I can't see the ending of oppforce because the game always freeze's. I think I have scratched it or it might be because I dropped some Tip-X on the cd by accy As far as I can get is where you are shooting at that big green slug thing that come's out of the portal with the mounted machine guns, then after abit lines start to appear across the screen, then the screen turns black and that alarm sound plays, and a box pop's up saying "Did you hear the sound wav. play"
Always dose it every time...
Tried it on other systems, it's deff the cd or the installation off the cd.

So what happeds at the end , the more deatailed the commentary the better

You kill the monster, it recedes into the portal, fade to black

cut to you back in the helicopter from the start of the game talking to G-man

he tells you he's impressed, leaves through a teleporter, fade to black saying subject Adrian Sheppard has been detained for further testing.

or something like that

you DO know that if you install Steam you can just tell it your half-life CD key and it'll download all the data for Opposing Force from the net (meaning you don't have to worry about a defective install CD)?

Sounds like you're not doing the ending right anyway

shoot both eyes with the laser, then pump everything into the ball of light that appears in the creatures chest when he rears up. Mash the shocktrooper that teleports out each time. Repeat. Win.

Update:

Hey all, Has anyone had problems with loading saved games in oppforce, I can't load any saved games the console just says: Host error: Bad String. Anyone know of how to fix this ?
(Oppforce under HL version 1.1.1.0)

happened once to me.

i repeat my statement r.e. installing a fresh steam-based HL & OpFor install to ensure data integrity

Unfortunately the 700mb for steam is too large for my 56k (Can only stay on for 5 mins at a time ) Connection.
I guess now your gonna say re-install right ?
I've been exploring the problem in the oppforce conlsole, and surprisingly I think I may have diagnosed the problem, but I don't know how to sort it, as eveything looks in order. When the console trys to load a saved game it initiates the command line C:\SIERRA\HALF-LIFE\gearbox\SAVE\quick.sav... and then the same command line repeated but with "\of1a.HL1..." at the end instead of "\quick.sav..." which as far as I can see is the correct command lines to use to load saved games for of. But then that deadly "Host_Error: Bad String:" appears and all is lost.

So there dosen't seem to be anything stopping the game loading, which is why it is so puzzeling.
