I havent really tried the multiplayer aspect, but i really enjoyed the single player game. If you let yourself, you can be creeped out by it seriously!!! Definitely worth it. Bug wise, i had no issues, but then i didnt with the demo, so it may be your rig?

i was fairly disappointed, actually - the gameplay experience is HIGHLY repetitive, with about 5 genuinely distinct enemies in the whole game

It's not bad, like said i was a bit disapointed as well, was expecting it to be more varied, and have much better level design. Wasn't overly keen on the weapons that much either.

I thought it was really good. Some of the best firefights ever are to be found in here with some geniuinely good AI.

Ok so its not as varied as say HL2 but its a very solid shooter.

I thoroughly enjoyed the single player element of FEAR, the multiplayer, although it can hold its own, it was a serious missed opportunity.

The multplayer didn't really bring anything new to the table, the slowmo aspect was interesting but has been seen before in the likes of mods like "The Specialists" and only has very generic modes like Capture the Flag, Team Deathmatch.

A Co-operative mode of the single-player game would have been a god-send to say the least.

If you buy it as a single-player, action-packed, adrenaline pumpin, visual feast then I'm sure you won't be dissapointed; that said, the slowmo and meleé did make it a tad easy, but I'm going to replay it for the third time on Monday when my new graphics card arrives because I think its THAT good.

The single player was great.. Tbh, When comparing HL2 and FEAR? I'd take FEAR most probably.. HL2 and its lage environment is good and all... but nothing beats a good firefight.. the firefight is so intense sometimes that ur palms sweat like its dipped in juice or something.. that didnt happen for me in HL2..

I get the corridor thingy, it get repetitive after a while, but if u like gun fights as much as me? this is a good buy... I've played it the 5th time alraedy.. 2ce on a 6800GT rig and the rest on my X2 7800GT rig.. and everytime u can do something new as the AI reacts differently..

And no, don't use the 'god mode'.. as it spoils the fun..
    Me want Ultrabook

Are you serious? FEAR is a fairly bog-standard FPS, with no real innovations or variety, and terrible performance! HL2 has a great story, vehicles, fab performance, technical innovations like proper facial animation, physics (plus physics based puzzles), excellent animation...need I go on?

I played FEAR to the end, and was extremely underwhelmed. The AI is good, granted, but bullet-time is old hat now.

    the SP mode- i loved

very environment driven- the encounters and flashbacks are stunning, the enemies are quite frankly gits cos they can interact with you more....

It's not the fact that it's scary- it's not the Doom repititive idea- the fact is that is you do get involved with the game-the more creepy, demented and sick it is...

The MP mode however is a big let down- i didnt like the MP demo or the fact the real MP too much spray n pray...

Hheheh each to his own, i think HL2 is in a league of it's own for recent shooters, as was HL.

Compared to what has been released recently Fear does come near the top in my list. Yes, the game is a bog standard fps but it does have a few nice touches that keep you playing.

The MP is good although a little boring but for instant action online it's one of best.

As the game is being sold really cheap from many retailers i'd say defiitely get it.
