Call of Cthulhu was a series of books by H P Lovecraft about the Elder Gods and other transdimensional beings that lived on the edge of our reality. If you've seen Helllboy, it's that sort of thing.

There was even a Palladium style roleplaying game a while back.

So I'm guessing that it will be an Oblivion style game set in the early twentieth century with lots of wierd goings on that you get caught up in, and then hae to save the world.

It was always a bit of a competition for use to see who could develop the most ridiculous insanity or phobia. If you could stay alive long enough Of course it should not be confused with paranoia which drove you the player nuts

I still have my Paranioa gear somewhere, that game was so funny it hurt. Was always a challenge to keep the notes in order and remember who was going to backstab who in what order. And of course the blatantly ignoring the dice roll just when an inconvenient failure of some R&D kit woule expose the attempted sabotage of Friend Computer by a Sierra Club hippy

I was a huge Rolemaster fan (mostly as an upgraded MERP), I have so many Middle Earth sourcebooks it's not funny. I had one party of high level players who decided to go on a jaunt to Mount Doom where they tried to reproduce the forging of the one ring (fully detailed in the Gorgoroth source book) using a sword. Needless to say they died horribly

If I remember rightly, rolemaster spawned one of the most ridiculous games ever devised; Dragonquest. It had rules for everything and yet they managed to completely miss some really key details. Meaning that with the right (or wrong depending upon how you look at it) dice rolls, your starting character spectacularly imbalanced.

My first character was a 30th level Storm Giant Warlock who could take on anything bar mature (or older) dragons on his own. Wasn't very good for dungeons either, being over 20 feet tall

I don't think DQ was spawned from RM, I think they were released at about the same time (1st editions that is, I played 2nd edition RM). DQ did heavily influence RuneQuest though which means it's indirectly responsible for Stormbringer and I'll therefore never forgive SPI for that. Stormbringer sucked on so many levels and was a huge dissapointment to me as a Michael Moorcroft fan.
