I bought World of Warcraft in Canada and have created a charater, he's level 16 at the mo. I was wondering how I could change him over to an english server and play on that. I don't have the english disc's tho...is there any way to do this??

ok i'll start again then...my other question was do I have to buy the game again to play on the UK servers?? seeing as i have the US/Canadian version i'm thinking i might have to...grr u have to buy the game and then pay to play it...tis addictive tho!!

Yes, you'll need an EU copy to play on the UK servers.

Having Canadian discs is not the problem as you can direct the game to the EU servers as it only needs one line of code changing, however you're still screwed as you've registered your account with the US servers.

therefore, you need a new copy of the game matey!

Ok i don't mind starting again..my accounts just run out on the US servers ..but how do I change the game to play on UK servers??

I'm not 100% certain that works any more... It was a common feature in beta to change between servers but it certainly isn't a "supported" feature and may be considered an abuse on T's and C's.

You forgot this line mate:

You need a new account to play on EU now, only way to get a new account is to get a new CD Key, only way to get a new key is to buy the game again.

However you do not need to reinstall the game (which is what I was getting at) you can just edit the one line of code that points to the US servers.

I'll try and find it and let you know how to change it, but ...... you still need a new account.

Edit the following file in your WoW directory by using notepad to open it:

realmlist.wtf

Replace the text in there with the following text:

set realmlist eu.logon.worldofwarcraft.com

This will now direct the game to the EU servers instead of the North American Servers.

(Still need to buy a new copy though unfortunately for the new account)
