Oblivion Help req

I've been playing Oblvion over the past few days and it runs really well within the towns, dungeons and city. However, in the open air there does seem to be some slow down and jerkiness.
Sometimes, I just restart my machine and all is fine.

I've put everything on max @ 1024x768 and it plays very well. However, I wanted to try out the HDR mode but is greyed out in my options.
I'm not sure if my card even supports it but if it does then I'm guessing I need to update my GPU driver. (I think it's 5.10 or 5.11)

Do you also think it's worth investing in more RAM (another 1gb) for smoother gameplay?

I can confirm this the x800 series do not support HDR you need a x1000 series or geforce 6000 seris for HDR.

With your slow downs outside try reducing the grass to nothing.

Thanks for the replies guys.

It's been on and off. Sometimes when I come out of a house/dungeon then it can be jerky. I just save, log out and reload and it's fine. I think I'll invest in some RAM.

Running with 2GB and still occaionsly see this happening

I have it running at 1024x768 with bloom and x2 aa on high settings and its runs pretty well maybe getting as low as 20fps outside sometimes.

1600*1200 here with everything on max and HDR enabled (no AA yet as I've not installed the "Chuck" driver yet), it averages 60ish fps, can drop to 20ish if there's a lot going on, but there is some texture tearing here and there.
